Darn, had you requested the -G part?
No. This is the 4th visit; 1st time replacing the motor. So if it makes noise again, I’m just going to go for a buy back.

Further update to this. They are replacing the front motor again after just replacing it.

Dang it. I've had my front motor replaced once, nothing resolved, so was going to wait to ensure latest revision, thought I saw -G was the fix, not sure, but will see.

I did find that with it warmer or not making the wind sound, accelerate hard from stop or under 20mph up to 40mph or so and the sound will come back if it’s not making it.

I have the exact same noise - like someone trying to whistle through their teeth with sand in their mouth

OK, this is weird. Motor was swapped but it’s still making noise. Now I just want to know what’s making the noise.

Mine makes the same noise but only when it’s cold outside. Today was 77 on my drive home and no noise. Yesterday was in the 60s and the noise was present. I’m thinking the noise is something to do with keeping something warm on the FDU possibly.

But you said swapped for -F version right? Maybe it really needs -G
Yea, but at this point I’d rather do a buy back. So that’s what I told them; formally put in a buy back request.

Is the air whooshing in or scraping metal noise?
To me it’s a metallic, bad bearing noise, not air whooshing. Plus, the noise is temperature and throttle dependent. Once the truck warms up, noise goes away. Heavy on the throttle, noise goes away. So either this brand new motor is bad in the same way (unlikely), or it’s something else. Only thing I can think of would be half shafts or wheel bearings. However, when I put a GoPro in the wheel wells towards the motor side of the half shafts, there wasn’t a significant difference of noise at ~45mph. GoPro in the frunk towards the motor, clearly making noise.

This is the old motor, but the new motor sounds similar.

You should get a large piece of plexi glass or thick cardboard, tape it over the entire front lower grill on the bumper. That’s one thing I have not yet attempted to try to see if that resolves the issue. I was even thinking the tow hook covers since they have a weird rubber seal opening. I been trying to isolate every possibility and that was next on my list.

I have a similar noise that I didn’t think was an issue until I received a model S plaid as a loaner during the PCS replacement and noticed it was much quieter.

Try this:

Under dynamics hit the slippery road traction control button and go for a drive.

when I do that…no noise. So it’s definitely not wind noise. I don’t know what’s causing the noise to go away or what it means BUT…it’s 1 step closer (maybe) to finding the cause / solution to the noise.

Interesting. You’re right. I tried it also and noise gone

Didn’t work for me. Noise is still there.
