Eliminating the stalks will save money and make the CT/Tesla's sleeker and easier to keep clean. Execution and roll out is critical for acceptance. Tesla could prepare a nice demonstration application/tutorial to practice using the steering wheel controls for the showroom, test drives, guest drivers and refresher for existing owners. Correct me if I am wrong but this new interface could be used now even if you currently have stalks?

Theoretically both the stalks and wheel-buttons could co-exist, but I know of no Teslas configured this way.

I'm also wondering regarding all of the discussion of the dash/hood visibility: it appears to me that the angle of the windshield/hood on the CT is steeper than most (all?) other trucks out there and that should contribute to a much improved view from the front seats.
cvalue13, I rest my case...

Looking over the hoods of the CT and F-150 using the same spot for eyes in each, grey for Cybertruck, Blue for the Raptor, it looks like the CT will offer just a tiny bit more view downwards over the hood than the F-150 which makes sense to me because I see an awful lot of my own hood from my point of view in my truck. I didn't think it would be such a little amount of change but I suppose the hood falling from view is deceptive with that much longer dash.

Push comes to shove, you could probably see something on the ground a couple feet closer in the CT than the F-150. Still, not much difference. But, much effort has gone into this... too much.

Side note:
I really would like to have better graphics program here at work... for break time, of course.

again, you’re not quite seeing where the hood obstruction is in the Ct

it’s at/just above the location/height of the BAW attachment

everything forward of the BAW attachment is not visible from the driver’s seat in the CT

that attachment point of the BAW is ~directly above the axel of the front wheels of the CT

Why would the eyes be at the same spot?

We know the CT is lower to the ground than the F150, but typically have more interior height/space than an ICE vehicle due to not having the transmission, exhaust, etc.

If the assumption is that they are the same, then you get substantially less head room and almost none in the back seat, but again, we know this isn't the case with EVs.

This was from another forum, but Elon is almost 6'2 and this is what many attributed to high height on the CT.

F150 is minimum 75.2" and the Raptor is 79.8", it looks like the CT is 73-74" at what some have claimed to be max height (same height as the CT climbing the curb). Even if it's not max, it's not going to make up the other 5.8", but it's certainly not in low looking at the first picture compared to others we've seen.

typically, in almost every vehicle I ride in, my head is close to the roof. Maybe I have my seat more upright. Maybe I just have good driving posture. Whatever the case, my head is about the same distance from the roof of my F-150 as it is in our Model Y. I figure the CT will be about the same. For me, anyway. At this point, we are all guessing based on our personal experiences and what we can glean from what little information is available. So, that's what I've done. I'll be able to tell from day one. I'll park my F-150 in my driveway and mark the closest spot on the road I can see in my normal driving spot. After settling into my Cybertruck, I'll do the same (low, normal, and high suspension... just because, why not?). Then, I'll be able to say "I was definitely (you were definitely) right about the vertical sightline."

But it's shorter than an F150 Raptor as I just illustrated, even factoring in depth (but it looks like Elon is right up against it). Unless you think it goes from what looks like a higher height from normal driving and can add 6", it will certainly be shorter. And being shorter isn't a massive issue as BEVs have more interior headspace, but you will be at a lower viewing angle, regardless of seat position, which with side-by-side comparison, like you've done, will change the viewing angle, no?

My head will be close to the roof... in either vehicle. Even if my personal F-150 were jacked up 3 feet, my head would still be close to the roof. Same as if it were lowered. I just think I'll be able to see lower when looking forward in the CT than in my truck. I can't guess how many degrees lower but I think it'll be a little bit. Obviously, if my head (and thus the whole truck) is lower, I'll be able to see lower. But, if you only look at the angle from my eyes to the lowest thing I can see, it'll be lower in the CT. (the angle will be steeper)

But it changes the lines in your picture. You are drawing the line base on the CT in the front, which even if your head is the same distance from the roof, it would be higher in a side-by-side comparison in the F150, because it's taller. It's not changing a ton, but your lines aren't an accurate representation.
