BTW, do we think this 120v 15amp or did they go all out with 20amp.

22O VAC can be only 15-20 amps with normal sized receptacle (different plug pattern) If memory serves you can run a up to 5 HP from a circuit like that. 220VAC @ 40-60 amps is a big ask for many reasons.

I hope they use good weatherstripping or gaskets. One of the things I hated about my Ram w/ Rambox living in a dusty area is that it was poorly sealed. Boxes were cool for stuff you didn't mind getting dirty, but if you wanted stuff to stay clean the cabin was the only safe place. That's even with a hard tonneau.

I see two cables attached to the sides of the tailgate and has anyone noticed it these are removable to allow the tailgate to tilt downward to turn into a ramp? I really need this feature for my dog to walk up to the bed.

Its not mission critical, but it is a huge bonus. I would be over the moon with a 220 outlet in the CT.

I live in the city and rent a small detached garage down the block for my workspace/motorcycle storage. That building has 15 garages. All 15 garages' electrical for both lighting and power outlets gets fed through the breaker box in the basement of the house next door (because the initial developer who built both cheaped out and just fed the electrical to the garages next door instead of installing electrical specifically for the garages). This means I have one 15 amp outlet for my garage. Since my garage is narrow but tall, I built a loft for storage, and installed a bunch of military tent fluorescent light bars I got at a government auction all over my garage so I have strong lighting wherever I am in there. Once I start plugging my power tools/etc in.. I have very little headroom for tools. If I run my air compressor at the same time as an electrical space heater in the winter.. boom.. im out of power for untold days until I can get in touch with one of the residents of the house next door to ask them to politely flip the breaker, or let me in their basement to flip it myself.

I have a bunch of welding projects that I have stacked up waiting to do. I could do it in my backyard if I disconnect the washer and run an extension cord.. but yeah that is not something I want to chance using an extension cord with. So if you give me a 220 outlet in the bed of the CT.. I will be welding like crazy! And when those motorcycle projects are done, I'll be welding sculptures just for the fun of it!

Agreed. My ridgeline tonneau has weather sealing and still the damn thing floods! I park under a tree and in the spring and fall, the bed gets full of tree droppings which inevitably always end up in the sealing groove of the bed storage. I forget about it until 4 months after the fact and when I open the bed storage, there is a rotting pool of dirty water half filled up! Every time.

So I've recently added power washing the bed of my truck including the bed storage grooves to a twice a year schedule.. after the leaves fall, and after the trees bloom. The clear coat is peeling off the whole truck, but that bed is damn spotless!

Good point. Oddly in this example the lid does not even light up with the tub rim.

That would be the better option, like on the Lightning.
The Rivian has theirs in the bed. That is a no here.
The Lightning has it underneath and it drops down. Still possible?
No spare at all? Hmmm.
Y’all seen the undercarriage of the CT though - I don’t see any space for even a donut under there

I previously discussed this from the info in the tonneau patent application, but this vault video is finally taken from an angle when someone pushes the button that shows it pretty conclusively:

the uppermost ~1/3rd of the vault is stored between the bed bulkhead and cab

watch the video a few times, and get a feel for the speed at which the tonneau moves - then note that the instant the guy pushes the button the tonneau lip jumps out of the sill below the rear window

this all jives with the language of the patent

No further nails needed in the midgate coffin

what if the midgate folds down only when the cover is closed.

I've been dead serious about my CT reservation since day 1.
Me too, but... ?

I've had a 30 year dream to RV when I retire (on Thursday BTW ??) and an ~8 year commitment to drive only EVs, so I had a dilemma until the CyberTruck was announced. When I saw the 14k # towing capacity I was ecstatic, and had my reservation in as soon as Elon said "You can go on the website and order one now"

Then when Chevy did the Silverado reveal and hinted at 20k #, I put down a reservation on that too, as my Plan-B. Thankfully the evidence for a CyberTruck release soon is becoming much more promising, because repeated CT delays were beginning to make a GM product look like my "best" option. I'd've done it, but I wouldn't've liked it. It looks like Chevy is throwing a bunch of batteries at their range anxiety, I'm hoping Tesla achieves range with efficiency and mass saving engineering instead. One way or another I'm gonna EV-RV.

I’ve heard of suicide cables, but this is redic

Reminds me to flesh out why it would be a big deal if the CT doesn’t have a 240v outlet

with the Lightning, many people quickly figured out that the “Home Integration System” wasn’t a good or reasonable buy for most

but that still leaves a relatively low cost and very functional way to use the Lightning to power the house:

Basically, you install a generator plug and service panel the same way you would for a gas generator (though with one little extra bit of equipment to deal with the bonded neutral in the Lightning).

While this V2H powering won’t turn on automatically in an outrage, it’s otherwise just as functional, far more cost effective, and while being vehicle agnostic … hell, you could use it for a gas generator, too, and have redundant backup.

For example, you could use the same set genny-plug setup if later you **hypothetically** traded your Lightning in for a CT that had a 240v outlet:cool:

Not having a 240v would seem such a glaring miss for Tesla, that it leads me to conclude there’s no way they won’t have a 240v outlet

But I *also* do not see them having it in the Frunk. You don’t put your welder in the Frunk.

And I don’t see them offering *only* a 240v in the bed.

So it’s odd this panel is this sized, and seems to be fit for only single gang 120v outlet.
I was wondering the same thing. However, I wouldn't put it past Tesla to have only a single 240V outlet in the bed and offer different plugs/converters that you can purchase. Not everyone wants to pay for a 240V plug (just like the Homelink thing) so it would be on-brand for Tesla to NOT include it in every vehicle. They'll have a plug adapter for sure.
