Appears to be a powered latching mechanism like with the trunks or hatches found on many cars. When you close them gently and they start to catch, they activate and pull themselves in and lock or latch the rest of the way.

I saw Brad’s video but we do not know whether there is a motor or not from him closing the frunk and, as @greggertruck mentioned, he is not putting much effort into closing the frunk, which is interesting by itself.

What did they put in the frunk? Is there a random CT with a golden ticket in the frunk like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Keep those eyes peeled. It's that one right there... Don't loose track of where it is.
