I believe “performance” indicated a unit, still dual motor, but juiced for extra hp (eg different inverters, or etc)I had not thought of it that way but it does make sense. Tesla does differentiate Dual Motor Long Range from Performance, but I am not familiar with the Model S/X trim differences. Is the Tri-Motor Model S labeled Plaid and is there a motor difference between the Model S Performance and Plaid or is there even a Performance vs. Plaid?
The Plaid added a third motor, plus other mechanical enhancements to achieve its stats
Ultimately none of it is clearly categorical, as - although Tesla doesn’t update models often - it monkeys with powertrains constantly THEN comes up with the marketing angle
so, it’s possible that either:
(A) the ‘performance’ CT he’s referencing is just his weird Twitter word soup for saying “the faster one, eg the tri); or
(B) the tri motor CT, because it’s a tri/faster, will be marketed as the ‘performance’ trim; or
(C) there’s the tri that’s simply categorically faster etc than the dual, then there’s a there ‘performance tri’ which is optionally juiced up to be even faster than the standard tri
