Not necessarily so, the QA scrutiny on the first trucks will be enormous, hence everything will be amazingly "perfect". My MS built in 2/13 with vin #57XX went thru a white glove QA before leaving the factory & is by far better than the newer MS that fly out the door today. I did a factory tour when we bought our car and watched as final inspectors using white cotton gloves went over the whole car spending almost 1/2 hour on each one. I know in the real world than is totally unrealistic but I think the first models coming out of the factory are going to have that kind of attention
I just want to make sure we all recognize that expecting this kind of perfection on our vehicles is driving the cost up. It’s a truck. After 10 years its likelihood of going to the crusher probably increases 10% every year. I know a lot of people look at cars as a status symbol or a golden chariot for their royal hineys. But it’s just a car or truck. I hope this forum doesn’t turn into a door gap tolerance evaluation committee once the CTs start arriving. Actually I hope they ban body panel gap tolerance conversations all together. Just be thankful for your bullet proof stainless and let’s have some fun. Tesla can send their white cotton glove QA team home and give me the savings please. Lets just get these CTs rolling

This reminds me of the Model S Signature deliveries, if thats the case, we are still VERY far off from true mass production.

I was thinking of a few more, but whether it's 10 or 40, I'm glad we're (hopefully) going to find out all the official specs and what trims, motor configurations will be manufactured in the coming months.

I would be very surprised if there were any quality issues with the 10 deliveries, considering they were built by hand. All the photos of casting outside Giga Texas is all for show, has anyone noticed any turnover in that inventory!? Parts and pieces don't mean jack squat, until we see a steady flow of trucks coming out of the factory. I don't think that I am alone in taking a position of major disappointment in progress four years after reveal. Look at my post from 8/14/23 "Keeping The Dogs at Bay", don't say I didn't warn you!!!
Yes, the pile of castings has been documented to turn over completely at least once for sure.

By that definition, all are built by hand.

But Tesla specifically said they weren't going to do a delivery event until they had their line finished, which means they weren't built by hand.

i just had a service appointment yesterday, and the tech let slip that there will be 30 trucks delivered at the event. Though i think it was a slip of the tongue, still a fun data point to speculate on..

how can they build many CTs when they are only now hiring for CT related roles
? :) ... here is a screenshot of CT related job openings

this is a going to be a long(er) wait folks... but it will be worth!:sneaky: that is why Elon is the right guy to take us to the moon, Mars, and to deliver the CT( after big wait)..... wouldn't have it any other way... in fact he did say MANY times that manufacturing the CT at scale is 100x more complex than design phase. keeping my fingers crossed for Elon... and for my CT

They're always hiring for roles. They're likely legally required (if this is liability or regulation I don't know) to post the jobs they're looking for, even if they end up filling them from within the company.

They will need to hire for the ramp for a long time coming.

Deliveries of 30 would still include 10, so in that "wishful hopium" thinking, Javier Verdura and your service tech would both be right (first 10 still get delivered among 30)? ?:ROFLMAO:

It would be nice if his reference in the speech was an easter egg subset number, but I'm certainly not holding my breath for that. ;)

My SO and I both formerly worked for a PC company, and would have to restrain ourselves at retail stores while the salespeople were "explaining" the product to prospective buyers. We would wait for the salesperson to leave before offering more-factual information.

The techs are last to know.
