I will be sleeping in my Cybertruck, either the vault or back seat. I read engineers were seen sleeping in the rear cabin, on the floor, back seats folded up. Works up to about size 6-0 person.

I'm currently paying for my Model Y (as I did my Model 3) by renting my slope-side ski condo and sleeping in the car a few nights per month. . .
Was going to say, Model Y "camping" is totally a thing. CT camping would definitely see similar rates of occurance.

The cover better be rain resistant. Imagine using it as a work vehicle and having to park in the garage during a rain, or staying home when it's raining. Would be pretty useless if the bed gets wet with all your stuff when it rains.

As far as sleeping in it, for some it might be more expensive than the place they sleep in now.

For others. Like my plus 1 who I invited to the reveal party, when his wife finds out he reserved a cyberbeast, he might end up having to sleep in it.

Perhaps I should have used the word “Trivial” instead, wasn’t mocking.

What trucks have HVAC from the cabin to the bed?

Your dogs would be fine, why wouldn’t they be? I think the question is will the crates fit.

It’s s rare thing to see dogs in the back of trucks too, but that’s way more common than someone sleeping in the bed. It’s just not something on Tesla’s list of stuff to worry about.
I suspect you don't camp much. Where I live lots of people have trucks. Lots of them hunt and camp. And of lot of them sleep in the bed of their trucks when hunting/camping just to be up and away from the critters. Some have shells, some sleep under the stars, and a few even have truck bed tents.
It seems odd to me that you don't think a lot of people will sleep in the bed/vault.

Yup , a couple of these people who say it’s not a thing must live in urban cities and never get out ?‍♂

It's not that. I'm in Alabama, we hunt and camp here. It's that these aren't what most people do with trucks, it's just what some people do with trucks. That's kind of my point. If we were to do a non-biased poll, 95% would say no to those things, that's why they are edge cases.

I'm not criticizing anyone for sleeping in their truck or minimizing their desire to have said features, but the discussion seems to have tilted in the direction of defining edge cases and why manufacturers tend not to mass produce for edge cases.

I get your point but I think it’s more than 5% (maybe 10%). It’s kind of the same thing with off-roading. I’ve never done it or don’t think I will but I am blown away with how much attention is being paid to it. I wonder what the percentage of people who will take it truly off roading and doing hill climbs?
My plans are to tow a boat (or put the boat on top of the truck like the Aussies do) and fish some reservoirs or rivers that are 3 to 4 hours out. They always say the fishing is hot right at sunrise. I am definitely too lazy to get up at 2/3 am and do the drive so I get to the reservoir at sunrise. So the plan is to go out the night before, camp in the truck and have the boat on the water by sunup.

Most people don't do most things with their trucks. Most people do things that most other people don't do with their trucks. Trucks are the original utility vehicle, and have been used in different ways by different people since the Model T. Making up stats about how many people won't do what you don't care about with their truck is pretty suspect. I hereby declare that 97% of people disagree with you about something. Since 97% is higher than 95% that makes you more unreasonable than the OP. ;-)

I think there's a bigger issue here that hasn't been brought up.... I don't think there's buttons to open/close the tonneau cover from inside the bed. the buttons are on the outside unless I missed it. And given the glass isn't passthrough from the cabin I guess you can't sleep inside the bed with the cover closed. right?

Use the app, and hope your phone battery doesn't die overnight

I’ve given this some thought and here is some ideas:
- rear window glass - does this serve a function? I mean if vault cover is closed, most of the time it will be, then the back window is worthless. You can’t see through it. Why just not take it out and replace and fabricate a pass through?
- vault/tailgate option - you could leave the vault cracked open or just leave the tailgate down or have a bed extender with the tailgate down. Lots of options. And the is small heater/ac units you can plug into the power ports in back.

The app talks to the car via Bluetooth also. Cell service not required, though BT isn't exactly the paragon of reliability either.

Is there for sure a tonneau open or tailgate open button in the vault for emergency egress purposes?

Why just not take it out and replace and fabricate a pass through?
Removing the useless rear cabin glass and installing either a hinged partition, or at the very least a hard partition with a USB fan seems like a great idea to me.

I know the midgate is structural but man if someone gifted me a CT I'd be really tempted to cut it out completely, and fabricate a removable mount for the rear seats. I know that would mess with the torsional stiffness, but the CT already has more than enough of that.
