I don’t think I’ve seen anyone who ordered three days after the event and is 11280… I ordered the morning after and am 11282 which is 74,00 and aligns with every other person I’ve seen share their number.

His email in his inbox from “[email protected]” titled “Thank you for your order” is dated 11/24/19? I would verify and not rely on memory if you haven’t already. Still strange he got his invite before you based on number unless he owns a bunch of Teslas + stock + referrals or something.
Agreed, i placed my reservation about 24 hours after the unveiling and I’m 112886

It seems like they’re taking the early orders (24hrs), weighting them heavily toward CA/TX, and drawing them at random. The “first day” orders are essentially in the same timeframe.

No need to advertise what you can’t sell. As long as there is a wait list 1 million strong any attempt at advertising is pointless

I ran into this issue in 2006 when I put a deposit down on a Saturn Sky Redline. GM had billboards advertising it despite the fact that there was over a year wait list because they were cranking them out so slowly. Really pissed me off actually
By "advertising", I mean the truck itself is an in-person advertisement on wheels for Tesla... as an alternative to traditional advertising like the other car companies are pushing. Speaking of which, I am really sick of the Volvo YouTube ad at this point. No, I don't want an XC90!

... aaand I just realized I can block the ad. Whew!

On Tesla.com log into the website. And go to Profile Settings. Do you see an address there?

This is NOT the address on the Tesla phone app.

Also, do you own another Tesla?

Ahh, I see, so advertising for Tesla in general. The Halo car concept: Bring them into the showroom to look at the Corvette and hope they walk out with an Equinox. Does that really work though? If I see a Cybertruck on the road in my area does that make me more likely to buy a Model Y?

It worked on me! Step 1: Ohh, Cybertruck! Reserved! Step 2: Boo, long ars wait. Step 3: Friend bought an Model S, got to ride in it. Cool! Then I saw my first M3. Did a test drive, and bought a Model 3 while I wait for the Cybertruck.

Over the last 3 years, every other house in my neighborhood traded their cars in for mostly M3 or a MY. Sprinkle in a Kia EV6 and a Caddy Lyriq. I think people are simply seeing EVs zip by and wanting the next best thing.

Interesting! I’m in a bit of different situation. I have a Yukon and I have needs for a truck or truck-based SUV. Tesla can try to sell me on a Model 3 all they want but I’m not buying. But I’m so ready to be done with my Yukon and any other ICE vehicle for that matter

I will say that regardless of order in line. I don't think people will have to worry all too much about waiting too long. Especially if they ordered early.

It was a $100 refundable deposit, to get a reservation number shared between all Tesla models and trims.

The different of 10's of thousands in reservation number probably come down to a fraction of that considering how popular the model 3 and Y were at the time of a lot of these reservation were placed.

Then on top of that...people were expecting a truck soon. They weren't expecting a 4 year wait. Many of those people might have gotten a Rivian, a Lightning, a different Tesla, or any other vehicle and they might not be ready to upgrade again so soon.

Speaking of upgrading a vehicle, the economy isn't doing too great and Tesla bumped these prices up a lot. There were already a lot of people who didn't have the money and were looking to save up, there are people who were aiming for the 40k version and as seen on this forum, some people were quite mad that the 40k version didn't stick around despite inflation and many have said they can no longer get it.

We also have to remember that many of the people who were going to get the dual motor (AWD), might now need to switch to the single motor (RWD) which isn't even expected until 2025. That's probably quite a significant number of orders considering the price and economy. While a lot of people are waiting to drop their money on the AWD or beast, a lot of people won't have it in their budget to spend more on essentially faster accelerating and range that the average person doesn't need in a daily driver.

If we look at Ford, the most popular truck brand in history and the F150 which is the most common vehicle sold in America, their electric version of that truck didn't really get the attention they were hoping for.
Ford said they received 200,000 reservations, which I believe were the same $100 deposit as Tesla. But after 1 year on the market, when they delivered about 20,000 of them to reservation holders...eventually they just didn't have the demand anymore. Ford was ready to ramp up production to 150,000 a year, and just recently announced that target will basically be halved and they will keep up with demand.

If I wanted a lightning, I've checked, I could go to any of the Ford dealerships in my area and they are in stock and ready to buy. Even without knowing the exact figures on sales, there should still be at least another like 150,000 reservation holders eager to pick up. I even just checked the Lightning forum and I see examples of them selling, asking for advice on where to sell, and even recommendations to people to buy used if they can't afford a new one.

Not saying the lightning is a terrible truck, it has it's ups and downs like any and so will the Cybertruck.

But I do expect a similar series of events when it comes to demand. I've even been saying I wouldn't be surprised if 85% of people will cancel or already have canceled their reservation. but I think it could be even more.

But that's still a lot of people. Even if only 5% go through with it, that's about 100,000 people (if numbers are right). But, 100,000 is a number that we could see reached within a couple years. Leaving early reservation holders likely getting a Cybertruck in the next ≈16 months and early early reservation holders getting a Cybertruck probably before next Christmas. These are just my estimates but I don't think the Cybertruck reservation will be kept by anywhere even remotely close to even half of the reservations that were made.

First off, YOLO

Secondly, depreciation only matters when you plan to sell. I drove my last car for 10 years and I plan to drive this truck even longer
Better have a savings account setup to replace the battery

The gas / oil change savings over 8 years should be just fine to replace a battery.

But the Battery warranty will replace it with a comparable one within spec if it drops below 70% normal capacity. But even doing some research online, I don't see any examples of someone needing a replacement due to this issue. There are examples of needing replacements for other reasons, which is normal, no manufacturer is without failure rates on their parts when they get up to over a million vehicles sold.

The data i've seen is actually suggesting that the average that people are seeing after about 250,000km (150,000 miles) is about 85% of their listed range. And that would still take about 11 years at the average miles to get to that milage.

I know people complain about not getting their 500 mile truck, but 90%+ of Cybertruck owners won't even need the 340 miles.

Usually myself, I will use about 40% battery per day on days that I have to drive far. Tomorrow I think I need 60% for a one time thing a couple hours away and the return trip. But superchargers are popping up everywhere these days and being more convenient. They are at my gym, my grocery store, and the mall near me.

While someone could replace their battery at 70% or even higher if they wanted to, It would probably take about 10-12 years based on the data to get to 70%, maybe longer. And I personally would just keep driving my truck until the lack of range starts to be a problem and then I would schedule an appointment to replace it.

I ordered my 3 motor cybertruck during the unveiling. My reservation number is "RN112749075". My friend ordered his 2 motor cybertruck 3 days after the unveiling, his reservation number is RN112800341. Which means he's 51,266 reservations down the line from me. He received notification yesterday (12/12) to configure his "Foundation Series" -Which I understand only 1,000 of them are being made. We both live in San Diego California. I'm super stoked for him that his reservation got pushed up from what should have been end of year next year, to now getting his, probably this month (December 2023). It seems Tesla is not following their own reservation order, which seems unfair to those of us who were further up in line. And of course, there is no phone number or email address you can reach where something like this could be addressed. Has anyone else had a similar experience? -very disappointed.
Yup. I'm in Texas and someone here with a higher number than mine received the order email and I'm still waiting...

A 'Reservation Number' can be just a guarantee of a reservation or chance to purchase, but does not necessarily have to conform to exact sequences. Tesla may have not even assigned reservation numbers or groups in the exact order when giving them out.

Tesla might have a database with actual reservation date/time stamps to reservation numbers, and could be possibly going by that date/time sequence within certain regions to notify reservation holders.

Regardless of how awesome the Reservation Tracker is or what it suggests, there is still a lot we do not know about the exact Reservation schema that Tesla is using.

I didn't see anything in writing guaranteeing reservations being honored in sequence, only that reservations will be honored at some point.

I could be missing something, so feel free to correct me if I am.
