May be

But showing me where the three bolts goes after the relevant trim is removed (or shown in cutaway in the diagram) doesn’t do much for me except confirm that three bolts mate each to a hole.

Meanwhile, maybe that single piece of trim *is* easy to come off, eg the belt line assembly (part #11 under front door trim) - though personally it’s not clear that that piece isn’t stacked under other trim lips that first need removal

Regardless, the point of my response to the OP’s tweet - that it only takes three screws to remove the sodeviews, I feel stands:

other trim must be removed, too, and meanwhile one still needs to show me the part number for the made-for plug that covers and weather-seals the large gap in exterior SS panel resulting from removing the mirror assembly

like I said before, anything can be removed. But to make it sound like one needs only a phillips screwdriver and 1 minute, and no other accessory parts, I think misleading
It was just a comment on how it appears to look easy to access... Not sure why I bother posting screen caps and engaging anymore. Everyone's got some point they think is being argued against or something. No one is misleading anyone, just making conversation.

Here's some more food for thought, unless it's too misleading to be interesting. It's possible that the diagram posted is not a cut-away view at all, but what it actually looks like. The front doors significantly overlap the A pillar, right where the side view mirrors mount. This leaves the mirror on a completely un-trimmed section of door. It's a strong possibility that removing the mirrors could be as simple as (1) open door to get access, (2) remove bolts, (3) disconnect electronics.

Edit: I realize I'm probably on a forum with a lot of engineering types like myself. I should probably overtly label most of my thoughts to avoid misunderstandings. I apologize if I mislead anyone! That wasn't the intention and I tried my best to use language like, "I think", or "it's possible", to denote speculation.

That's the inner seal for the door, and looks like it seals up the mirror too.

There's a line break at the end of the long piece so it's probably a snap in piece. So you probably don't even need to take off the trim as you said.

Whoa! Great angle. You're quite the sleuth. Yeah it appears to be in the space between the weather sealing and hinge mounts--invisible to the interior but easy access. Great photo find!

Edit: it appears they trimmed even that section with a sort of wrap-around, interesting. So will trim removal still be necessary?

And mine was “just a response on how it doesn’t necessarily appear that way to me based on what we’ve seen”

All of which was really beside the point of my post to OP

Because, again, my post to OP was about how showing that the mirror detaches from inner door with 3 screws isn’t alone enough to say anything about how easy it is to remove the mirror (and also what to do about the hole)

but your responses added more info and was helpful to that discussion - and smoked out @Kahpernicuss find

so I’m left wanting to know about how to plug the hole (been that way since age 12)

haha yeah, that looks pretty much like any other side mirror and how it would be mounted to the door. taking off interior panels, while not extremely difficult, is not 'VERY easy'. Many people, if it's their first time, will probably break some of the plastic clips off by mistake
It was mentioned in one of the interviews (I think it was Franz) that said there is a panel inside the door that can be removed and replaced with a monitor to view the camera. that tells me eventually they will have a kit to replace the mirror with a monitor.

That is for the Cyberbeast only vs "AWD Dual"

My breakdown pref is:
* AWD Dual
* AWD Tri-beast
