It was just a comment on how it appears to look easy to access... Not sure why I bother posting screen caps and engaging anymore. Everyone's got some point they think is being argued against or something. No one is misleading anyone, just making conversation.May be
But showing me where the three bolts goes after the relevant trim is removed (or shown in cutaway in the diagram) doesn’t do much for me except confirm that three bolts mate each to a hole.
Meanwhile, maybe that single piece of trim *is* easy to come off, eg the belt line assembly (part #11 under front door trim) - though personally it’s not clear that that piece isn’t stacked under other trim lips that first need removal
Regardless, the point of my response to the OP’s tweet - that it only takes three screws to remove the sodeviews, I feel stands:
other trim must be removed, too, and meanwhile one still needs to show me the part number for the made-for plug that covers and weather-seals the large gap in exterior SS panel resulting from removing the mirror assembly
like I said before, anything can be removed. But to make it sound like one needs only a phillips screwdriver and 1 minute, and no other accessory parts, I think misleading
Here's some more food for thought, unless it's too misleading to be interesting. It's possible that the diagram posted is not a cut-away view at all, but what it actually looks like. The front doors significantly overlap the A pillar, right where the side view mirrors mount. This leaves the mirror on a completely un-trimmed section of door. It's a strong possibility that removing the mirrors could be as simple as (1) open door to get access, (2) remove bolts, (3) disconnect electronics.
Edit: I realize I'm probably on a forum with a lot of engineering types like myself. I should probably overtly label most of my thoughts to avoid misunderstandings. I apologize if I mislead anyone! That wasn't the intention and I tried my best to use language like, "I think", or "it's possible", to denote speculation.
