With the cameras, what I have found is that the truck is so long, you have to really scrutinize the farthest ends of the truck in the feed to determine if you're going to hit something or not. It's like, if you wing it, you'll probably strike something.

In my garage, I have two motorcycles on racks that are flush against the wall and I park the truck as close to them as possible, and I'm damn good at it, with runway strips on the floor to guide me, etc. Even then, the cameras are not very good - they need a second set of repeater cameras further back in order to be useful.

I have to squint and look closely as the lights in the garage aren't super bright, and with the reflection from the steel, it's difficult to determine if you're seeing a dark object or a dark refelction.
Being where you hit is most likely the nether reaches of the structure of the CT in terms of height and length, I can understand when spatial awareness in spite of the cameras is crucial. I hope it.doesn't cost you too much.

A Monroe video found that the SS quarter panels were attached to the steel inner shell with laser welding along with structural adhesive.

I was surprised to learn that the SS quarter panel wasn't attached to a SS inner shell like all 4 doors are.

I was concerned about future galvanic corrosion issues down with two dissimilar metals making contact. Maybe the black e-coating on the inner shell prevents this from occcuring.

When I park in my driveway, I tried to park as close to the fence as possible so that my wife can get her car in and not give me shit about it.

The model s, it's always been pretty easy and I guess I'm not yet used to the truck even though I've had it for a month.

So today, I got a little too close to the fence and boy did it mess up the truck. We're not talking about running into the fence directly but trying to back up and then I got a little too close and then one of the panels got caught in the post and it really messed up the post but it bent as well. Check out the pictures.

Bear in mind that this is parking speeds, very low speed. Judging from the post, that's some serious damage so if this were a person, they'd be pretty messed up.

I tried to bend that panel back with my hands and it's impossible. I tried to pliers and it's impossible.

There's this dude that happens to have a body shop across the street from the co-working space where I go to and I'm going to go and see if he can bend it back in place enough to make it look normal again.

Seems like you should be able to request service in the Tesla app the same as for any other Tesla. Anytime I've put service requests in the Tesla app, I've usually gotten response messages back fairly quickly.

I post this and quite literally right after I had post, they send me a message. Interesting.

If people are finding it hard to notice, I'd recommend putting something bright on it until you get it fixed.

You might decapitate a walker by.

If he can't bend it back, just have him bend the other side so you can say you opted for the aero package.

What would you expect with almost 600HP AWD and, more importantly, 525 lb ft of torque at VERY low RPM, thanks to the characteristics of an electric motor. You press on that little pedal and it moves whatever happens to be in its way (or if the whatever doesn't move, it bends metal on your truck).
I would have expected that board to be torn off the fence. That peeled the truck.

I’m sorry, you probably feel very bad about this. I worry when trying to park close to obstacles in the truck. The 4 wheel steering can cause the rear to move closer to an obstacle, when your maneuvering away in way unlike a two wheel steered vehicle. I was impressed today when riding in my friends 5 year old Accura, by all the situational awareness presented when parking with birds eye view and proximity sensors. It really blows away what the much more expensive Cybertruck has. It’s almost the end of June, we’ll soon see if the Cybertruck actually receives any of the promised driver assistance aids, or just more empty promotion.

From what another guy said, he paid about $2.7k to get it fixed. I'm guessing a good part of that is labor. I'm hoping they have a panel or if I can get it bent back, I can live with it for now.

Definitely not possible to bend it back with any regular tools. I'll see if body shop can bend it back with their big equipment.

I'm actually quite ok leaving it with the "injury". Did you notice the metal has no scratches?
I’ve got to wonder why the top of rear corners of the truck contact obstruction before the bumper does. Doesn’t the designer know why bumpers are on vehicles?

Lol actually it wasn't any. But I've been on my bicycle all day so I'm super tired.
It's practically a lost skill, but an aircraft sheet metal guy with an English wheel could make that piece look like new in a half hour.
