I don't understand, it says the universal wall charger is included in foundation series. Separately from Powershare... Does that mean I won't be getting the universal wall charger? I know about getting either the powershare equipment or the 2500 voucher. But I thought you get the universal wall connector regardless. There is no indication that the UWC is dependent on getting powershare installed.

To date the UWC only comes separately with the PowerShare Gateway or you can use your voucher to order it separately. The only charger that comes with the truck is the mobile charger.

Any outlet will do, just plug it in, leave it all night.
  • From a standard 15a wall outlet, you'll get less than 3 miles per hour plugged in. 30-40 miles a night, which is sometimes plenty. Especially if you leave it plugged in all day.
  • From a 20a tool outlet you'll get another mile or two per hour. 50-60 per night.
  • Tip that up to a 20a 240v outlet and you'll get up to 10 miles an hour. 100 miles a night.
  • But past that, it get sweet, fast, as overhead is smaller and smaller. A 50a dryer outlet and the Mobile Connector should get you 28 miles per hour. That's basically full overnight.
  • That same wiring, but a hard wired Wall Connector will get you over 40 miles per hour, or way more than full overnight.

The truck can be told to charge at a specific rate, or try to be 100% at a certain time to be ready - and it'll calculate how long and when it needs to start the charger for you.

My M3 charges off the 115v wall socket at 5 mph, the 240v charges at 30 mph and the "Destination Charger" does 45 mph. Put them in myself in 2018.

It's the tall silver wall mounted one with the vertical green LED on the front, that restaurants, hotels, casinos, etc. get for their customers. It's fast and works well for them because the customer is there for a while anyway and allows them to get a fast charge, but not as fast as a Supercharger.

That is cool. Am I allowed to buy one of those? LOL Althought I think I will just stick with buying the wall connector for $450 and that will do great.

Wall charger from Tesla is 48a 240v on a 60a breaker. I'm not sure why they say 40, but it does a little better than that. (y)

The Foundation Series also comes with credit or service for a Wall Connector, which gets up to 40a.

Just as an addendum to your [correct] response, one of the posts asked what is needed Day 1, Week 1. I was contacted about the Power Share installation weeks before getting a VIN. It took a couple weeks to get a quote, and I have yet to get the work done. Granted, there were some complications, but I am betting that that is more common than anyone would want. Bottom line to my post is that there is no way to guarantee having the Power Sharing setup completed Day 1, Week 1, but it is definitely worth the wait for me.

Also, Power Sharing doesn't mean a charger, in the terminology (per se), but it does come with a Universal Wall Connector and a Gateway. I believe that the Universal Wall Connector can be used on up to a 60A breaker so it should get up to 48A shouldn't it? Granted I haven't read the specs.

That is by no means awesome. On a Tesla Wall Connector with a 60A breaker and 48A max delivery I am getting under 30 miles per hour of charging. At 40A, assuming that you have a properly-wired 240V circuit (and I mean by that that someone with knowledge of BEV charging wired it and not some DIYer or 'regular' electrician) you would get more like 23 miles per hour max, and with the 12A you would get more like 7 miles per hour max.

If your daily commute is 80 miles then on a properly wired and maxed out TWC you could charge in 3 hours. With the 40A closer to 4 hours, and with the 110 more like 11 hours.

I have friends that have gone the cheap route and use an old washer/dryer 240v outlet, but I went the route of an electrician that has installed many BEV wall connectors because I do not want to burn my house down. Even so I have had a couple of incidents that were a bit scary. I say don't cheap it.

@Crissa, I have my CT charging on a V3 TWC with a 60A breaker and I do not think that I am getting more than 28 miles per hour. Are you thinking about a Model 3/Y with that 40 miles per hour number? Both our Model 3/Y got over 40 miles per hour with the same WC.

A "Wall Connector" is also called "Destination Charging" because you'll see commercial versions are hotels and destinations, like work or parking lots.

My M3 charges off the 115v wall socket at 5 mph, the 240v charges at 30 mph and the "Destination Charger" does 45 mph. Put them in myself in 2018.
Yes, but. Model 3 is a smaller, lighter vehicle that consumes half as many watts per mile as a Cybertruck.

I'm just going off what the online manual says. But you're right, (50a*240v)/450Whmi=26mi

It would be nice if someone could put some real numbers to this, since there are charging losses and overhead from the computers.

If your daily commute is 80 miles then...
...You represent the top 1-2% of commute distance. Maybe get a closer job and recalculate how much you're cutting into your hourly pay by adding on three extra hours to your day.
