80% of CyberTrucks have this problem with charging: PCS

Are you for real? This hasn’t happened to me with either truck but there are enough people saying this that I’m pretty worried.

It certainly seems like I have just joined the club. Although I don’t know that I’m getting the right warning. CP_a066? I don’t know that that’s been what I’ve seen reported. Only charging at 24A instead of my 48A. Just started this afternoon.

He has dodged so many bullets up until now! But, I would rather have this go ahead and get replaced while there’s no question about warranty coverage than have to deal with it at 50,000 miles.

That’s absolutely true. Now get them to make you whole with a loaner, charge for free and put miles on Elon’s car.

Has Tesla modified the PCS to make it more reliable in new trucks? For example are we on a PCS version 2 or something?

Last I knew they was on version G now.

Yea that it, mine is weird also and service center guys having issues giving me the free supercharging update so much so that they pushed my appointment up to this Monday. When connecting my home charger it’s blue for 1-2 seconds and flips red. App says error, screen says equipment not providing power. In service mode those alerts say HVBATT error unplug and retry. Service says it’s pcs. Fun times I’ll be glad to get it fixed. 70k miles so I’ll be footing the 1k bill for the pcs. Not happy about that but what ever.

With a 2026 Cybertruck I'm not worried and the extended warranty will also cover my truck for 7 years. The semiconductor supply chain problems have forced Tesla to build the Terafab that should help solve these types of issues long term but in the meantime, there are no rabbitts to be had for pulling out of hats.

My guess is the engineering was sound but the hardware is failing due to unexpected fragility of the complex PCB's that are used in the PCS. The Munro Live video with the engineering brain trust of Tesla delved into the PCS a bit and may provide some clues as to the why.

It's a new 2026 Model X and I want to drive it. It just got it in March. Plus it has more range and better Wh/mi than the Cyberbeast so I can get there faster: I'm going by myself this time. My Cyberbeast has lifetime free supercharging, so not worried about that. I do want to take the Beast across country, either this summer or this fall (and combine it with the X takeover in Austin, which I signed up for). I have 2 Cyberbeasts, the one I take on road trips I almost exclusively supercharge and it is a Sept 2024 build. The other doesn't have free supercharging and is a June 2024 build and almost exclusively gets charged at home, so will probably notice a fail on that one first, I'm guessing.

My 2022 X Plaid would need charging about AN HOUR before my Cyberbeast. That would translate to about 65-75 more miles of range on the CB than the XP!

Yes the mobile charger and wall charger are AC. Superchargers are DC.
