People often never take take the time to understand the context behind definitions.

"Self-drive" is a term used in the movie "Demolition Man".

self. drive.

Get it now?
If Tesla charges $12,000 to drive yourself, can you imagine how much they're gonna charge for "Full Auto Drive"?!? 😳

I predict Full Auto Drive will just be a FAD. 🤣

Literally the biggest reason i was excited about owning my first Tesla.. this sucks
I feel ya.

I never thought the Cybertruck wouldn't have FSD or Autopilot at launch.

I sure hope by the time my number gets called Autopilot is active on it, and FSD is not too far away.

Considering how much I i use AP, that's a bit disappointing. However, after this last update I use the basic TACC more since the car gave me a strike for taking off my hat and another for using the display to set my destination.

At least the OTA updates will enable it eventually.

Agreed, now in Autopilot my MY doesn’t detect my hand(s) on the wheel as well either, and has kicked me off even while paying attention and holding the wheel. And if I push too much on the wheel, it can suddenly turn off AP almost causing me to swerve.
I did not know the car is calculating a safety rating?! Almost afraid to ask, but How do I see mine?

I thought you could only see this if you used Tesla Insurance as it can affect your monthly payments dynamically. I've seen request on Xwitter to show it for all FSDbeta users.

Let them eat cake! The peasantry can't afford the extra $20K plus forgo the $7.5K rebate to get one sooner.
Yeah, except I made enough with my TSLA stock to buy two Cyberbeasts and have money left over.

My wife is going to look at me like I’m an idiot when i tell her that the CT wont be able to do any of the FSD that I’ve been talking about for the past 4 years. : /
Yeah it’s shitty that they would make FSD part of the mark up yet not deliver on it.. like, WTF?
then why asking CT customers to pay for it in Foundation Series? to develop it further ? why it is not optional ?
First, you talk like it is NEVER coming. Tesla has said FSD will come first to HW3, then a few months more to HW4. Nobody got their panties in a bunch over that. Everyone understands that with different hardware comes different implementations. But to say it is going to take extra time for the CT, and once again, the sky is falling.

I would argue that you are looking at the cost wrong. People here are looking at the cost of FSD and all the gadgets to justify the cost of the FS. However, that is NOT what Tesla is saying. You are paying $20K extra for the FS, period, all stop. Now, to make you feel like you are getting something (other than early delivery and a possible collector’s badge) they are including all these items for FREE as part of the package. Nowhere will you see a FS for $80k and then you are “forced” to add all these options at their full retail cost. That’s not the way this works. You may or may not consider this a good deal considering what it would cost you to outfit a AWD CT
That is confusing to me. Tesla already had a very large dataset. It is true that the Cybertruck will be from a little bit higher angle but they *already* deal with this since the TM3 and TMS are lower than the TMY and TMX.
There is an assumption here that this is data driven. I don’t think so. I think where you interface the current AP/FSD software modules with the SBW software is a part of the delay. As I mentioned above, you are talking about HW4, and the ONLY current model with an additional bumper mounted cam. Interfacing that additional source of data with the AP/FSD isn’t an overnight modification. And Tesla has stated their priority is HW3 first, and HW4 to follow. I would anticipate that the CT would PROBABLY roll out with the HW4 inclusion. The exception to that would probably be the FSD/AP interface with the SBW isn’t ready at that time.

If it's the lowest priority, I probably won't buy the option. I don't like the idea of paying for something I may get years later when I'm ready to order my next CT. I have a second I ordered a few months later.

I think the main reason for taking time to turn FSD on in CT would be testing. They can easily ignore the new camera, for eg. The API they use for CT control is probably same / very similar to other vehicles. So, the actual integration would not take up too much time. But they do have to test - probably adjust some stuff for different dimensions.

Ofcourse, the way Elon wrote that tweet was BAD - he should have said they are working on it and it will take x amount of time. He probably instantly killed a lot of FS potential orders. I was considering ordering FS for a possible summer roadtrip if I got the invite - but I probably won't order now since I can't use CT for the roadtrip if AP is not enabled.

It is very much dependent on how and when the AP/FSD interfaces with the steering motors. That will make all the difference.

The same. That's why it is inflated now. It has been a long going statement from Elon that as FSD and robotaxi become available, the price will go up.

Even Autopilot, I believe requires the driver to be attentive and does that by monitoring the torque on the steering wheel. There are no "hand" sensors used.

Safety rating was for early FSD owners to get earlier access to the beta program. It has now disappeared and unless you have Tesla insurance, not used.

Interfacing with the steering, I'm pretty sure that this is one of the least of the issues. Because it used fly-by-wire to control the steering previously. It's quite possible that the fly-by-wire team even made the FSD interface look exactly the same as before.
