Are there other shiny metal vehicles in South Florida?

There are, and typically they are similar to the one in your picture, so some portion is painted. The Cybertruck is reflective from all angles and all directions. My eye even picked up the glare form the A pillar in that photo, which illuminated the issue for me.

To sell in high volumes they need to keep the Cybertruck semi affordable. I think the bean counters overruled.

I predict 2mm for the doors, tailgate and quarter panels. 1mm or less for the fenders, valance and frunk hood to help achieve a ⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐ crash test rating.

obviously part of your thinking is merely materials costs, that's obvious, but also insufficient.

insufficient because the design of the vehicle relies on the 'skin' for, if nothing else, both cargo safety as well as structure for 'hanging' components and trim upon.

accordingly, to claim that a reduction from 3mm to 2mm would save costs, you'ld have to know how, and show your work, that cargo safety and construction structure aren't negatively effected by the change, even if it saves some costs. addressing those topics in more conventional ways can easily be more expensive from a design, manufacturing, and materials perspective, than any cost savings by sheer materials costs reductions.

and adding that reducing the SS from 3mm to 2mm means less SS in the panels, but doesn’t necessarily mean less materials overall (eg if now they have to add interior door braces, internal A-pillar braces, etc. - to say nothing of manufacturing complexity and parts

CT panels are still about reducing parts and manufacturing complexity - regardless of whether someone doesn’t like calling it an ‘exoskeleton’

I expect they will be using the off-cuts as much as possible to save waste. I’m sure there is a very curious looking piece of folded paper with a strategic cut diagram to minimize tooling and maximize re-use.

The scraps they will turn into trinkets to sell on their merch site.

Next generation belt buckles will be machined from Cybertruck scraps.

Stainless isn’t nearly as conductive as aluminum either. You’ll never see heat pipes or heat sinks made of stainless.
