Initial production deliveries have always gone to Tesla employees and "friends". Then after about 3-4 months they contact the "rest of us" to finalize our order.

To everyone upset that celebrities and friends of Musk jump the line, it's inconsequential. They'll be making these at a rate of 200-300 per week for the first month. Maybe 50-100 celebs and friends (being way generous here) will jump the line. It's not like he'll hook-up a few thousand people. You won't even notice.

At the 17:30 mark of the call he specifically says:

"We are still expected to be in production with the Cybertruck in the middle of next year..."
This should play right when he says it...

I have a 1st day order on a F150 Lightning also. Talk about a mess. Ford will let the dealers prioritize orders so many 1st day orders are still waiting while someone who placed an order 2 months later was on 1st wave of orders for the 2022's. My reservation is one of the lower numbers and I bet Ford is going to jack this around for the 2023's also. I bet I will not get the opportunity to order a 2023 when I should have been one of the 1st to order a 22.

I will just relax and realize I will get a Cybertruck or a Lightning when I get it and not sweat the details.

I don't know about you guys but you definitely don't want the very first iterations of the CT. I would definitely want prob the CT that's about 1 year or more into production anyways. There's going to be a lot of bugs in the first round for sure and they will definitely be implementing design changes for the better.

  • 4680 cells are being produced and they have had a test deployment to Model Y out of Austin (the Grade C version as Elon described it) to learn from. The internal lines are being improved and challenges addressed. That design will be iterated on per Musk with the Cybertruck likely have more of a Grade B version when it launches. Also, it should be noted that outside vendors will also be producing 4680 cells at some point.
Hmm I think Elon could have come up with a better reference than Grade C. I would have gone with Gen 1. By the time I get my CT I hope we are actually seeing Gen 3 4680s with real improvements to density at the cell level with better durability.

Makes me feel better that I'm no way near the front of the pack even with a tri motor order. Eases the mind but would still be jealous watching them get built and delivered next year.

Thank you very much. And the last question is, when will the Cybertruck be officially available?

Elon Musk -- Chief Executive Officer and Product Architect

We're hoping to start delivering them in the middle of next year.

Delivering.

Long before that, in the intro:

Elon Musk - TechnoKing of Tesla

Our team continues to focus on Cybertruck production readiness and some future platform design. We are expecting to be -- still expecting to be in production with the Cybertruck in the middle of next year.

Production.

He's obviously using the terms interchangeably. But no matter how you slice it—middle of next year the chains come off.
