It is still disabled for solar and power wall owners but if you have the Gateway3 with the Powerwall 3 then there is a low voltage two wire that connects to the gateway, and then the Universal connector can be connected to any part of the backup load. When the software update comes out in Q3 we shouldn't need the low voltage wire as its purpose is to power the gateway when the truck is connected so it can properly set the transfer switch. If you have power wall that power wall can power the gateway so V2 gateways will work without the low voltage line.

I had a PowerShare installed and moved to solar with 3 powerwall 3’s and v3 gateway. I still have the home connect in the control panel lit up under truck when plugged into my universal connector as before, but not sure it actually works.

Do you know how it's wired? I have a Powershare gateway and am going to get solar+PW3

if you go into the my home and your power wall, you will see if the power Wall can talk to the vehicle yet. The newer gateways that came with a truck V3 gateways have a wired communication line that supplies low-voltage power from the truck to the power wall. Older V2 ones don’t have that communication wire that supplies low voltage so it has to talk over the network. I believe that piece of software is what’s not done yet.

V3 gateways will never work with PowerShare, solar and Powerwall 3. Tesla just took back my V3 and I bought a Gateway 3, which will work with our solar panels, Powerwall 3, Universal Wall charger, and second wall charger. But it will work only after the promised software download that is supposed to enable PowerShare with all of this. Tesla admitted their error in supplying the Gateway v3 with the truck, despite knowing I was doing the fully integrated Powerwall and solar installation. The sales and accessory webpages do not make this distinction, so if you order the gateway with the truck or from the accessories webpage, it will be the v3, and will never have the ability to PowerShare if you have powerwall and solar.

Gateway 3 or version 3 or V3 is the basic Gateway used with Powerwall.
Gateway 3V, now referred to as Powershare Gateway, is the version with TACO and neutral forming transformer.

I’m ready. Not at home to see but have PW3x2 and solar. Also have a UWC on the board that’s backed up.
Does this finally mean my powershare was installed over the air while I’m off camping?

So Tesla fucked existing PW3 owners? When I ordered my Foundation Series it was supposed to include PowerShare, but they said that no additional hardware was needed because I already have PW3 and gateway.

All you will need is the software update.
Post is conflating the Powerwall Gateway V3 (version 3) and the Powershare Gateway 3V (3 vehicle).

Hey Mongo, I am working up a draft of a PowerShare primer presentation to be used by Tesla clubs, would you be willing to assist given your knowledge of the subject and any others here you'd recommend reaching out to as well for their input?

You have what you need if you have both PW 3 and Gateway 3, plus the eventual software update required to activate it.

You would need PowerShare Gateway if you only want to use your truck as backup to the house. If you want to add solar and/or Powerwall (apparently your situation), PowerShare Gateway will not work. To do that you need Gateway 3.

I was able to return the PowerShare Gateway that came with my CT and bought a Gateway 3 through my installer, because it was Tesla’s error.

The confusion is that PowerShare Gateway is also referenced as Gateway 3V (V stands for vehicle) which was the label on the box I returned. That is not the same as Gateway 3, the version that’s required to work with Powerwall and solar.

I have the power share Gateway 3v that came with my Foundation series cybertruck. I just installed a solar system. I was considering buying a powerwall plus expander packs but after reading this thread I think I might be better off without the powerwall. My understanding is that I can use the cybertruck with my solar system but if I buy the powerwall it will come with it's own Gateway and I can throw out my powershare Gateway 3v. Is that correct?

Yah. Powershare can handle 11.5 kW of solar and its Gateway doesn't work with Powerwall.
I suppose if you had Backup Switch you could leave Gateway installed but disconnect the communication lines, maybe...
