Could you put both of them on a manual transfer switch so in the event of a power outage after you exhausted your powerwall you would disconnect the powerwall and its switch and change over to the PowerShare gateway and its switch?

I'm tempted to just use the cybertruck for now since it's equivalent to 9 batteries and I paid $4,000 to install the Gateway. In another few years there will probably be substantial improvements in batteries.

Don't need a manual switch
Grid -> Powerwall Gateway -> Powershare Gateway -> house
(Theoretically)

I have the power share Gateway 3v that came with my Foundation series cybertruck. I just installed a solar system. I was considering buying a powerwall plus expander packs but after reading this thread I think I might be better off without the powerwall. My understanding is that I can use the cybertruck with my solar system but if I buy the powerwall it will come with it's own Gateway and I can throw out my powershare Gateway 3v. Is that correct?
You still need a separate gateway 3, but specifically not the 3v. My system was recently installed - 49 solar panels, 2 wall chargers, Powerwall, Gateway 3. Tesla exchanged the mistakenly provided 3v after I showed them communications proving that I had specified this configuration when purchasing my CT in March, so the 3V vs 3 error was on them. This was required because the official return window for items purchased from Tesla is 30 days.

Feels like we are due an update on when Powerwall compatibility is getting enabled. Q3 target has come and gone
Agree, but when I see "later in 2025 through and over the air update" on the site, I just go ahead and think maybe by December 31st as best case... and that they will probably miss it like a 4th time.

My Powershare 3V Gateway is not returnable and unfortunately I spent four thousand dollars to install it Instead of selling it because I wasn't planning on installing solar or getting Powerwalls at that time. Since solar, Cybertruck and Powerwall batteries don't currently work together I will likely wait instead of spending more money now.

Same here.
My powerwall installer told me to keep the 3V gateway in case it's needed afterall. The 3V basically has an extra part inside that communicates with the wall connector.

For real. It’s the biggest tease ever. Can we just edit the title a little to reflect what is actually being talked about here ?
Like “powerwall and UWC still can’t do PowerShare without a separately installed gateway despite promises from Tesla. How do you feel about that?”
We can always edit it back to the current lurid title if and when this actually happens.
This merciful edit should lower the average BP over time of a lot of people on this forum

I still haven't heard back from Tesla about installing the powerwall and expander packs. If they don't install it before the end of the year, the tax credit will expire and I won't buy it, particularly since I can use the Cybertruck to power the house.

I thought the steps are:
Order the GW and UWC via Tesla shop
Contact 2-3 cert installers for quotes
Book with one
Install, test and ready to use

Without a grid outage, can we app control cut off grid to test running the house on the CT battery?

Yep, the app lets you go off grid without needing to flip an upstream breaker.

Yup, just tested mine yesterday in fact, since my UWC randomly decided it wouldn't connect to my Ubiquity AP anymore. I switched it over to my Google AP I use for home automation stuff and wanted to make sure the switchover would work okay with Gateway and UWC on different networks. The go off-grid button fails over and back in 2-3 seconds tops.
