I am still waiting, too. I ended up calling Tesla‘s phone support and they have a mobile tech coming to my home on Monday. They said they need to have service figure out what I don’t have a PowerShare option under charging. It’s fairly obvious that they don’t have a rigorous standard work for the call center. They checked my app version and the car software version and said it should be working, but I’m very suspicious someone didn’t “enable” PowerShare in their back office system and folks don’t realize it. I’m hoping a simple conversation with the mobile tech and, hopefully, their internal contacts that they’ll get it enabled. I’ll report back. It has been over a week of waiting for PowerShare to be enabled.

I appreciate the response and the follow up. I am hoping my rep reaches back out to me to advise the escalation has flagged me. I was told she would. In case he solves the issue tell him to look up Case #67211924 and help me.

Powershare just showed up! I needed full 100% charge as I am going to a friend's house and they have no 220 plugs. I was just checking to see how it was doing and notice Discover Powershare.

So you had to plug it in to the UWC to get the option to show up? Thank you for the update.

Anyone with PG&E get theirs activated yet? My meter disconnect is still sitting uninstalled wrapped up next to the panel.

Ok on with them now.

Forgot options but there is a home share option.
They verified my VIN is not in the “feature list” and they are escalating to Level 2 support to have it added asap. Maybe tomorrow?

we have a whole day outage scheduled tomorrow with PECO. So it would be awesome to have it set.
I’ll keep you posted.

update: he marked it high priority. Submitted the ticket. They share that line with power wall so that’s why I waited exactly 59min for him to answer.

Same number for all Tesla. You just select Energy and the the last prompt is for Powershare. I waited on hold for 30 mins before someone answered, but she was pleasant and determined.

I was on hold for 30 mins and then working with the rep for almost 45 additional minutes before she determined I was not on the list. It took about 5 days including the weekend for it to show up.

I don't think plugging it in was the trigger, but I don't know. I just happened to look at my phone to see the progress since I was going to 100%. After the rep escalated adding me to the list it was about 5 days including the weekend before it popped in. I had been checking everyday, but when it is ready it shows up on the main screen that says Discover Powershare. After I went through the tutorial I had the option to slide the switch on for Powershare. I will probably get to try it on Monday.

Still waiting….

I can’t determine if maybe I don’t have something setup correctly. Both the Gateway and Universal Wall Connector show up in My Home, both are on WiFi, however the Gateway version is not showing. I’ve tried to re-add both and they just say already registered in the location. Others have said they have pages for each, but mine are associated with My Home and don’t show individually. Not sure how this all should look.

…and PowerShare is active!! We are away and the truck is plugged in at the house. Just got a notification in the app to explore PowerShare. It is then on by default. So, Tesla is just going through the list it seems. But, not sure what is driving the order.

Here is an update with PowerShare working and powering my house! Sorry it took me so long to get these up!

Images captioned below, but first a few observations.
  • The truck was awake when I tripped the breaker in the gateway, so it started delivering power within 5-7 seconds. It was quick and started providing power right away! But it’s not seamless, expect to reset clocks on things!
  • When the grid power comes back on the app tells you that power is restored and the gateway will switch back to grid power within 5 minutes. I was told this was to avoid multiple quick grid failures and it switching on and off. (Screenshot below)
  • When the gateway switches back to the grid this was NOT seamless either (slightly disappointing). So don’t reset your clocks until back on the grid, or you will have to do it again
  • For things you want to have constant power, I will be using small UPS power supplies to keep them running for a few minutes while the switches on/off take place. (Like my modem and router)
  • I let the truck power my house for about 15 minutes. During that time, the energy usage varied from 0.4kW to 3.5kW. This was late at night with most things off and AC kicking on at times. Other than not being instant, it worked really well overall.
App showing power output and energy remaining. This fluctuates as usage goes up and down

Gateway screen showing the outage. Doesn’t show energy usage on PowerShare. This screen usually shows grid usage

App screen showing “PowerShare Session Ending” message when grid power was restored. The little purple circle blinks to indicate when it will switch over. I think it’s just an indicator for a 5min. timer.
