Tesla Cybertruck Tow hitch hook on Cybertruck -- closeup look without cover hitch 1

EDIT TO ADD: The admin created this thread, excising this discussion RE rear bumper from another thread

fair enough, as in that other thread it was a bit of a birdwalk. Just FYI though RE the source of this thread

I'm just gonna block anyone with diaper festishes, okay? No kink shaming, but it's not mine.

You see a diaper, I see an aero cover/brush guard.

If its removable, irs not a brush guard its TPO or some other type of plastic.

Tesla will most likely be offering a recovery attachment as an accessory.
a real offroad vehicle has two tow hooks front and rear because of the geometry required for recoveries. You can get by with one but its much harder on both vehicles doing so and can exacerbate some problems.

That alpha proto does not have the second 2/3 removed (diaper), they punched two holes through it.
I should clarify:

the alpha I’m showing as evidence of where the frame/recovery mounts are. It’s true that in the alpha they’ve done some extra punching out in order to attach those push bars, but also look ‘above’ those cut-outs:

but note also in the alpha photo above the depth of the ‘lip’ around this area that is now absent in the pre-production prototype, which now instead as a nearly flush trim piece with what is very clearly a trim panel with a gap all around it

assuming the CT needs to offer access to the frame/recovery points behind this trim panel - because they do - then it makes the most sense to me that this new trim piece on the pre-production is removable to reveal the recovery points

contrast with your apparent notion that the entire diaper removes:

However on the beta it does appear they've added snap fits/fasteners to make the diaper removable:
I think it’s uncontroversial that snap fasteners would allow the entire diaper trim to be removed. Same goes for the entire front grill assembly in my F150. That’s just how these sorts of things are attached/removed

but that’s different from the sorts of access panels an OEM might provide for regular operation access to functional bits like the recovery points, while leaving a clean-ish/finished look

no doubt the entire diaper is removable, like my front grill assembly

But there are no less than 14 of those snap fasteners on the entire diaper assembly, and I don’t expect Tesla to think that’s how - eg - an off-roader in the field is supposed to access the recovery points, and then throw a bumpers-worth of trim in the bed of the truck

Middle third only. You can see the clips and seam.
just gonna ignore the other seams right there?

if y’all think the offroad capable CyberTruck isn’t gonna offer a clean way to access rear recovery points other than removing the entire diaper, then y’all have little faith in Tesla’s design team:ROFLMAO:

sometimes these dudes argue tooth and nail for something that paints them into the following corner: either tesla, doesn’t understand trucks, or they don’t

I’m not saying, I know anything for sure other than that Tesla’s design team will offer access to the frame and recovery points at the rear, unless they’re idiots and I don’t believe they are. And, that access to those recovery points will be designed in a way that allows someone in the field to takeoff the back of the bumper Portion that reveals the recovery points, in a way that is easy and clean, and definitely does not require, dropping anything downward towards the ground to do so. You’re gonna need those recovery points when that back bumper is sitting on a rock or an inch deep in mud.

So, when I see the alpha have access to the frame recovery points in a deep recess of the prior bumper model, but now in the pre-production version, there is a panel with a obvious seam running the edge of that recess, I’m willing to bet that it’s a panel that removes easily in the field (in the right direction - rearward) to allow access to those recovery points.

And for related reasons, I’ll think somebody hasn’t thought through it to conclude instead that either there won’t be recovery point access, or that you’ve got to drop the entire diaper assembly to get to them.

I think the problem is that the design team is in California, which invokes images of programmers/semi-pro surfers sitting around getting high and going "duuuuuuude, sweeeeeet!"

I’m not doubting there are other seams. At all.

I’m saying for the tow hitch, that middle 1/3rd is what comes off.

I have an image of it off if you’d like to see. But you have it too.. Y’all miss a lot of detail in the fuzz sometimes.

Go watch the Texas drive by video the other day. It’s off and exposed.
