Most auto "journalists" are so soft today. The bar is set so low that reliance for our attention is placed on catchy headlines, unusual match ups, snark, and dumb YouTube face. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
That is soft? Completely incompetent is a better way to describe it. The world has come to quoting people's cognitive fantasies as fact because people have nothing else to say and the rest of us are starved for information.

I have an old memory from back in the 80's of whipping my 'vette down a curvy tree-lined road with dips and hills. It was all fun and games till my 'vette showed it's true self to be a Chevette and that curve up ahead to be lined with a stone wall that jumped out to get us. That was the end of that joy ride.

<snip>Lets mention what we 100% know so far about the Cybertruck.

<snip>
9. it will break necks everywhere you go

<snip>100% confirmed
Credit due 1 out of 9. It will definitely rubberneck.

Everything 1ā€”8 subject to change after Elon stripped out the drivetrain and replaced it with a whole new power plan. Cybertruck will deliver 3-4yrs after launch. SO if Elon can remap its power system in 2 yrs. time, thereā€™s a great deal that can yet change.

We have to respect the fact that no one has driven a Cybertruck or stress tested the new truck skate on anything but asphalt driveway entrances, basically.

The new vehicle has yet to drive a million miles, tow 14,000lb. coast-to-coast or run offroad in Baja. The battery cells need proofed, structural battery pack casting chassis needs a ā€˜shakedownā€™, motors repurposed from light passenger duty to heavy loaded truck do create higher thermal consequences and just how long a trailer tow can it all handle, at what ambient temperature and what % of gradeā€¦ditto regenerative braking.

Based on what Tesla discovers Cybertruck production delay and further specifications are subject to change. Quad Cybertruck is one hotrod variant not a solution born from field problems, over-the-road stressors and normal pickup abuse a true truck is expected to suffer.

Put a Cybertruck in someoneā€™s hot hands for a year. Take it back over all the pucker-factor trails, pull the long grades and visit both coasts again in differring seasons. No one tests product better than outside consulting interests. Pan American highway is not much of a test that a shaker table wonā€™t answer. Cross the US where it must live. Throw it down under in Jbee hot hands after months. of US shakedown. Finish off with a Baja run upon return. Mount that Cybertruck in the lobby of Tesla GigaTX, dirt and all. Thatā€™s why everyone works there! Why everyone rubbernecks - everytime. Why everyone buys cred.

Wondering about an old Miata or ā€˜vette. Something collectable. My favorite part about performance cars isnā€™t so much the go-fast as it is dodging down windy roads. I think performance wise, the Model 3 Performance would crush on that kind of stuff, but there is something about a manual transmission and that bit of mental work to keep the car operating at peak.
Absolutely. Thatā€™s the appeal of a Miata MX5, the stick shift, lightweight engine and chassis, just you, a seat, an engine and some cogs. If only I lived in the mountains.

Technically, I didn't fully murder the Chevette. It just got a black eye. The passenger side headlight broke out, the bumper underneath was bent in, and the fender was crushed. The stone wall was on Lookout Mountain, GA. After the accident, I then drove it back to college up in Worcester MA after that.

The interesting thing about that vehicle was when I bought it, there was a sticker at the top of the back window. The sticker was for the police department of some sort. (I forget exactly what group). But that sticker did get me out of a jam or two when stopped by police.

Interestingly, I ended up selling the car to a college friend who looked like a druggy with old clothes and long oily hair. Shortly after he bought the car, he was stopped by the police. They asked him who was in the police force. And typical of my friend, he claimed it was him. Really surprised the cop. So he had to explain that in the military he was in the military police. He had to show military ID but he too got off in that stop.

Sometimes wish I had one of those stickers now.

Good point!! I shook my head when the guy in the Y said "I think it'll be close; I really want the Vette to win...". If that's the case, what's the point of this drag race??? If anything we could have just looked up the timed quarter-mile times of each and wouldn't have to waste our time watching this since all objectively is out the window.

Sad but true.

I still enjoy Chris Harris sometimes, at least his old Youtube channel, not sure how active it is now he's on Top Gear (I think).

I used to enjoy the long reads of in depth motoring publications, I would buy every mag as soon as it hit the newstands, pour over every word. There would be articles drilling down into the design and production of some new vehicle. The journos were professionals, the writing interesting and entertaining without being short attention span crap. Sigh... thank you internet.
I miss those wirte-ups!! Especially when it's from someone who ties in some combination of a racing background, experience with a variety of vehicles, and keeping an open mind.

I liked Harris earlier in his career compared to now. He seems to have just gotten old (not in the good way) and is always grumpy. He's been anti-Tesla and not thrilled by EVs at all.

I liked to old Top Gear challenges when they would go on whacky adventures. Even if it was more for entertainment, it showed the fun side of driving. It was the episode when they faked the Gen 1 Roadster having mechanical issues that they lost credibility in my eyes - I was no longer a fan. Especially since I had been following Tesla and the Roadster program since 2005; I thought seeing it in Clarkson's hands was going to be a great episode- nope!

Its fair to say there are many rumors going around especially some from unreliable sources. Lets mention what we 100% know so far about the Cybertruck.

this is for the first trucks being produced.

1. production will start with 4 motor variant.
2. we can expect production either in 2022 or 2023. no chance this gets delayed until 2024. i will cry.
3. it will have ATLEAST 350+ mile range
4. it will do 0-60 somewhere between 2 and 4 seconds
5. price at the very minimum will be $69k but we can all agree this will definitely be higher.
6. yoke steering wheel
7. will seat 6
8. 4680 battery cells
9. it will break necks everywhere you go

these are all the ones i can think of. feel free to throw the ones i missed in. everyone on this forum can agree that these items listed are 100% confirmed
I believe you took assu.ptions and a major leap of faith in 100% known items. The fact is we won't know the final outcome until production starts and the first models are in the hands of consumers. Until then we can only speculate what the truck will look like or the specifications included.

Just saying

For everyone saying my original post is is not "100%" of what we forsure know will come on the cybertruck. all the items listed are common sense.

1. production will start with 4 motor variant.
-elon confirmed tweet

2. we can expect production either in 2022 or 2023. no chance this gets delayed until 2024. i will cry.
-2022 or 2023 cybertrucks off the lot. there is zero chance elon is stepping in on the earnings call and saying we have many circumstances blah blah expect release 2024, two years from now even tho the factory is already built.

3. it will have ATLEAST 350+ mile range
-ATLEAST 350 MILES OF RANGE ON THE QUAD MOTOR. ATLEAST. DO YOU THINK TELSA WILL PUT A QUAD MOTOR VARIANT WITH UNDER THAT. use your common sense.

4. it will do 0-60 somewhere between 2 and 4 seconds
0-60 between 2 and 4 seconds. DO YOU THINK IT IS GOING TO BE SLOWER?!

5. price at the very minimum will be $69k but we can all agree this will definitely be higher.
- QUAD is not costing less than 69k. in your wildest fantasies. this is 100%.

6. yoke steering wheel
-common sense. theyre putting it on. confirmed by elon.

7. will seat 6
-a truck. and will have 6 seats. 100%.

8. 4680 battery cells
-also 100% and confirmed.

9. it will break necks everywhere you go
-duhhh

I wasnā€™t trying to contradict your post. Just seemed weird to me because you mixed features which are likely in 2 models into one.

As far as we know, range on the top of the line truck is 500 miles, not 350 miles.

Likewise, extremely unlikely the quad motor will be slower than the original 3 seconds to 60 quote.

Much of your post is true in one way or the other, just hard to follow what you were getting at.

I have been thinking about this question/comment a lot lately. I know that I initially took umbrage with item #5 because it is pure speculation, but other items in this list are also non-factual. Since the unveiling I, and probably many here, have kept a spreadsheet detailing what has been provided by Tesla in terms of specifications and features. But do we 'really' know? As so many have commented, at this point the notion of 'design complete', as Elon told us a year ago, is really no longer valid. So I don't update my spreadsheet anymore. I can update it and say this is the currently-agreed rumor of the specifications and features, but as we see above, what some people consider fact can be quite non-factual. Of the items listed above, the ones that aren't pure inventions are #6, #7, and #8.

I decided to update my spreadsheets after submitting this. I would share here as PDFs but not sure how to go about it. I converted to TSV and copied here but it looks like tabs came across as spaces. Sorry. These specs were taken from Google. Features, who knows really:

I had a bunch more that I had disqualified from your list, but your rebuttal is reasonable. Except number 8. By 2024, we may have 9720 batteries.
