I test lightnings every single day and they do not suck.
The lightning is an awesome truck! Read my post. Their towing sucks. In Oregon can’t tow more than 100 -120 miles on a good condition

Well I’ve been in an engineer for almost 30 years. So instead of measuring how long our units are let’s just agree to disagree.

There are plenty of instances where testing of similar design and the data gathered from those tests guide you in your design decisions. Plenty.

Now when treading into new territory real world testing is a must. However, they are not treading into new territory.

but what verifies the simulations matches reality?

a second simulation?

They designed and built the Model X. It has certain characteristics that are different and certain ones that are the same. That car was designed to tow.

They can extrapolate a ton of information from the real world towing done with the X and see how the CT will perform.

Remember the CT is a clad unibody not too dissimilar in basics than the X. So load capabilities and range can all be calculated using the knowledge gained from the X.

Why else have we not seen or heard of any tow testing by now? They can’t just start now this late in the game if they think it’ll impact their overall results that much. Their not that dumb.

I live in Arizona and fly over a few "proving grounds." I could have sworn I may have seen the Cybertruck at the AMTC (Arizona Mobility Test Center) pulling a trailer..but I may be wrong..It was during the descent and we were very busy..

Point is, there are many test tracks that are out of sight and away any cameras. Manufacturers use these tracks often for testing and out of public view.

IMHO, the Cybertruck public sightings have been intentional and its Tesla's unique way of advertising (FREE).

I remember Elon stating that the Cybertruck would kick ass in Baja yet zero video has surfaced of a Cybertruck being punished off-road.

Towing With The Silverado EV! Everything You Need To Know About Towing With Chevy's Electric Pickup

About 11 minutes in he talks to the 'lead' on the 4-5 team towing engineer team. Professional stuff vs PR.

You probably want to search around; there are plenty of photos of the truck being pretty dirty. I don't think it will be an issue. Just because we don't see it doesn't mean it's not happening.

The contention that there HAS to be public "real-world" testing is false. The ratings testing that SAE J-2807 requires can all be done on relatively small test facilities, in fact, HAVE to be done on calibrated slopes and surfaces. Real world conditions out on random roads wouldn't qualify. Even the "Davis Dam grade" portion can be simulated in a wind tunnel because it only qualifies if the temperature at the bottom is 100˚ on the day of the test. The CyberTruck will make a cakewalk of the Davis Dam test because that test is mostly a demonstration of truck's cooling system, whether it can keep an ICE engine cool enough on a hot day, climbing, with the A/C on full blast. That will be NO PROBLEM for any EVs.

There isn't some un-reproducable condition that can't be done on one of the many secret test tracks in the world. They can simulate traffic, pedestrians, mooses, etc. in all weather conditions without touching a public highway. And even if they did want to get it out on the road without letting on that it was being tested, Tesla could put a OEM pickup body on the CyberTruck's skateboard and prove the capability of it's drive train and suspension system.

all true enough, though i think the wonder is limited to the fact that the same could be said of any of the other testing Tesla has done - much of which caught at least once or twice being performed on the known test tracks, or in the wild

so only to that limited extent, is it interesting that nothing towing related has been caught

though i do take surprised exception to one thing you said:

And even if they did want to get it out on the road without letting on that it was being tested, Tesla could put a OEM pickup body on the CyberTruck's skateboard and prove the capability of it's drive train and suspension system.
now *that* i am HIGHLY skeptical of. :ROFLMAO:
