Lol I remember fondly how many times I was critiqued for pointing out that the definition of "exoskeleton" didn't fit to the CT design or how it was structuraly built, over so many pages of different threads here on this forum.

Now here we are...where I can confidently say I'm glad real engineers built the CT and not superficial peanut gallery pundits who are so shallow they can only see skin deep. ? ?

But seriously you can now clearly see that as predicted the main CT components are, and have always been, the structural cabin frame and pack, and the front and rear castings.

This is simply because all loads must go through the suspension, so routing loads outside to the CT skin, so the stainless can carry it is simply counter productive. Let alone that the front fender is small with little load, and the doors carry none, leaving not much "exoskeleton" left anyway.

Regardless, I think it's clear now that name calling is futile, and we should keep to calling things what they are so we don't lose definition of how it actually is.

if this is scaled correctl, getting a 37/12.5 on there might be possible but anything taller or wider is likely gonna be very hard to do. I don’t believe a 37/11.5 exists for 20” wheels
mid you mean my drawing in red, I did no concerted scaling. It’s wet finger in wind.

that said, photos of actual truck with 35s make it appear … tight … for 37s (especially now knowing how much kit has to be tucked inboard)

Looks like significant Frunk space will be lost to these absolute chonkers!
specifically, I think it’s more than reasonable to assume that those massive casting rails down below…

Line up with the front recovery/frame access points:

which would size the useable frunk space between casting wells (and not counting frunk molding/trim) about like so:

That a really nice tank. compared to any other commercial tank I have seen that is crazy clean. I will just start with that. I bet they fabricate it themselves. I am noticing 5 ports on the control assembly there. I bet those are for each of the tires and the onboard air outlet. obviously thats a wild guess.
When you say tires are you talking to lower and raise or are you talking to inflate/deflate tires on the fly? That would be legit

“We’re anticipating having a delivery event probably in Q3” -Elon Musk on earnings call.

On Cybertruck spec question... "Well I think will save that for the Cybertruck hand over event which will hopefully be in the end of Q3. It's an incredible product. A product like this only come along once. People will not be disappointed, it's amazing"

My thoughts on the tank shown on assembly line.

Perhaps an indication of 2mm thick?
IDK, however reports have stated the same sheets of SS used on SH/SS rocket are being used on CT. And the SS being used on the rocket is 4mm. Just an observation.

Many off road vehicles do have compressors and tanks. They will air-down for rock-crawling and traversing sand, then use the air already compressed in the tank to air back up. This also could be used to raise the suspension for going off-road; Elon has stated there will be 12 inches of vertical travel, which is enormous.

I was actually thinking for the adaptive suspension, but tire pressure control would be cool although it would take some pretty specialized wheels

Wait so I watched the announcement event and haven't really been following the scene much since then. but based on this thread it looks like basically none of the things that made the original announcement good would be present at release?

I was mainly excited for the large size, exoskeleton design and the rugged thick steel body that can take a hit from a sledgehammer and not show a dent. Is that stuff not happening anymore? Is it just going to be like a model Y in pickup truck form and stainless body panels now?
Yeah, but also off-road capable (which is huge for me). I think batteries just didn’t progress fast enough to make real EV trucks work yet, and even their model X is a small SUV. It’ll still be stainless with no paint, cheaper to use than an ICE truck, and is a total nerd/passion project

He's not touching anything but the tank sides.
tank.webp
hridge2020 did not mean "handle" in terms of holding the tank manually with his hands. He was referring to "handling" the placement of the valves. See his photo which shows that manufacturer "handling" valve placement by connecting the valve bodies to the back side of the cylinder cap (placing them inside the cylinder) and valve connection points on the outside of the cylinder cap.

My thoughts on the tank shown on assembly line.
kudos for putting together product

the CT has long been known to incorporate rate adaptive air suspension, for raising/lowering the ride height (including allowing the truck to squat in back for deploying the tailgate as even on unveil). this sort of tank is the reservoir for the adaptive air suspension

The CT also Purported since unveil to have auxiliary air for, eg, inflating the tires - but that would involve using a line that extends to the tire’s normal air valves

using such a tank to auto-inflate/deflate the tires would be possible, as with Humvee’s, but also as with humvees requires some pretty special equipment at the hub and wheel - no evidence of that sort of set up in CT
