I know the one we are ALL looking for is the turnover event; but before then there will be several other milestones.

For me the next one I am looking for in a major way is when the cybertruck goes back on the main Tesla page.. so if you got to Tesla.com you see cybertruck on the top.

I want the configurator. That's when we get prices.

But the truck doesn't go back on the website until they have the end of the queue in sight.

I'll slow pitch this one here, I just wanna see a partially built Cybertruck in Texas.

Not a production corpse for tooling config, a half built Cybertruck.

I don’t think there will be another milestone. I think it all comes together at the night of the handover party. We will certainly have increasing sightings and a production update on the 2nd quarter conference call in July. Maybe if Highland comes out soon we’ll get some more crumbs?

They show off the new truck, announce prices, open up the configuration for the first lucky bastards, and add the Cybertruck link back to the home page.

I wonder though whether they will add an order form to the CT home page with pricing? With a 2+ year wait list, seems a little risky. Maybe they just update the configs and pricing for ordering will be on the config page.

We should have a pool to see who can guess when the handover party will be.

I’m back to the handover event being the next substantive milestone. Because anything much before that doesn’t tell me anything about possible production start up timing.

Pessimistically, the handover event will be important to the extent they’ll possibly announce specs; even then, the line may not yet be mature enough to expect much about production ramp-up in any meaningful numbers.

But the videos from Joe today, from my armchair, are what make me also a bit pessimistic about timing of the handover event. It *looks* consistent with Tesla saying it is targeting release candidates in late August.

If late August, distance between release candidate to handover seems to further out than end of September.

For Model 3, timing between ~release candidate and handover was four months.

Maybe after 4 years I’m gun shy to do anything but expect longer than shorter

Agreed, but I bet there is somesort of leak to the press before the actual announcement.

The next milestone is surely a completed BIW at GigaAustin. This would tell us that the BIW tooling is working.

After that, in order:

- several BIWs (shows that the BIW line is working)
- a completed Cybertruck (shows that the general assembly tooling is working)
- several completed Cybertruck (shows that the general assembly line is working)

This is roughly how it went with the Model Y, and the whole sequence happened over 2-3 months.

Right? And doesn’t that not square with a delivery event in late September, if Tesla isn’t planning to have CT release candidates until late August?

On a quick google, it looks like release candidates begin being spotted as early as October/November 2019, production began Jan 2020, deliveries March 13th.

That timeline is roughly consistent also with the Mod 3 timeline between release candidates and production start/deliveries.

Which if Tesla is to be believed regarding a target of first CT release candidates in late August, doesn’t square with a CT delivery event in late September

I looked back at when Musk said to investors they were hoping for a delivery event in late Q3 - that was the mid-April earnings call.

Later in mid-June was the Tesla leak of communication to suppliers that stated first release candidates are expected late August

who knows, but that series of events is consistent Musk’s April aspirations for a delivery event having slipped sometime before the mid-June communication to suppliers
