You can say that I’m “whining” about something all you want to, but that doesn’t make it so.

You’ll simply have to deal with the exact words that I said if you want to. But this game? I don’t do that.
Yeah, I figured you’d have no response to that. Same deal with CT my dude!

Yes, you can count on me having no response to manufactured BS. 500 promised; 500 not delivered is a statement of fact.

If you think stating fact is “whining;”I’m not somebody that can, or is willing help you with that particular affliction.

But if you think that’s a real gotcha, by all means celebrate your big “win.” ?

I agree 500 would be better but if I had to choose I would definitely take performance over range….. wait, now that I think about it that’s exactly what I when I checked the Cyberbeast box instead of the AWD box lol
Fair Point here, got me on that!

Most common thing I hear ppl talk about is towing and hauling or lack there of in the CB but to that I reply, I didn’t by my raptor to tow or to haul so why is this want different. To me they are in the same category
Again, fair...but with 500mi it could replace my 2500 and it would go from the best truck ever to the greatest of all time!

Well, I just don’t get it! I never had any vehicle get 500 miles on any truck or car I have owned in over 50 years! Only guys I have met that get that kind of range deliver things for a living and have dual tank pick ups. The Tesla range extender reminds me of that extra tank. On some boats I have owned they install saddle tanks to extend range. If you live in an area that is frigid and remote I would not buy any electrical vehicle until the technology changes on batteries.
When I took delivery of my dual motor truck I was anxious over the range and in a month I realized all my vehicles get around 300 miles before refueling is required. My Hummer 270-315 the Twin Turbo Aviator 280-320 the Cyber truck 250-290 using suggested battery charging range. For me I stop for 15 minutes and put a few miles in before I’m low if needed. Since I charge mostly at home and drive under 150 miles a day it’s not been an issue on range.
500 mile range? I hope I live long enough to see that. I love life in general and maybe just got lucky with my truck but love it and no disappointments here for first year model release.
I have two signs at my door, no whining and no glitter allowed.

I don't think they missed on the range because they couldn't do it. I think they missed on the range because they didn't need to do it. If you look back at any of Tesla's unveils for their top performance vehicles (Roadster, Plaid, Beast), they all had uncharacteristically long range (because range = weight) for a vehicle that was touting performance. The battery packs at the time required that many cells to make the horsepower required for the specs vs. cells at production time that could reach that peak power with a smaller, lighter battery. No way the Roadster goes into production with the unveil range either.

Buy the the $20K range extender. 470 says Tesla, and they are trying for 500.
Well, if you're driving in town. I was only able to get 240 miles on 100% charge (estimated 340 miles of range) going 75-80 mph on a trip I took Sunday. Two adults, three small children, and a few things in the bed.

Range is **way** more important to 99% of the people than performance.

They didn't miss the range by "a bit" ... on the Tri --- from 500 to 320 is a LOT. (towing, cold climates impacts, V2H scenarios (Ford & Chevy have this too), etc was impacted)

Disagree that range is more important than performance to 99%. There is no way that number is correct. Drive one of those other vehicles that tout 400+ miles for a week and tell me the performance of the CT doesn't matter to that many people.

I am certainly hoping Tesla will get the range up near the 500 miles. The cold winters in northern Canada requires it before ownership is practical.
Love the Husky!

Some of these numbers Aren’t real world. Or, for example with All Seasons instead of the factory A/T tires.
FYI, I had a header on CTs numbers.

I have been paying attention to the AS vs AT and had this lower in my G-sheet.

Right on spot for what is advertised. EPA doesn't do highway speeds of 75/80, more like 60.

If you want the 340, you need to average around 40mph overall, that's I think what the standard is. In town, you will get way better range than that.

ICE vehicles do better on highway (within certain speeds) and EV vehicles do way better in city.

Around town, I've gotten great mileage, close to or more than estimates. Even when going around 60/65 it does fine.

The key, on a roadtrip, is to just follow a filled up fuel tanker. ?

You can get the EPA range and efficiency in the real world on EVERY Tesla made simply by cruising at 55-65 mph (depending upon the model) at a steady speed.

There are many reasons some people have trouble getting reasonable efficiency, the biggest reason (after high-speed cruising) is people who don't know how to drive very consistently. By constantly shifting from light acceleration to light regen (when they should be cruising at a smooth, steady speed) they kill their efficiency. Some drivers still don't get one pedal driving.

Also, you can see on Youtube that many EV owners do mods that prove they don't care about range. Cybertruck's 340-mile range is with the OEM base tires. Of course, most people don't need more range than 240-300 miles. This is well understood. There will always be people who fall outside what most people need though, but those are niche applications. I just drove to Reno in temps between 23F and 40F on the rural highways from Northern Washington, through a number of mountain passes, snow and ice, on the less efficient "winter" AT tires with no wheel covers, travelling between 65 and 73 mph, and range wasn't even on the radar. It simply doesn't matter for most people (once you have more than you need).

If you have special needs, you might have to settle for a Silverado or the even more expensive Sierra. But then you lose access to some important Superchargers. So that's not necessarily a better solution, even if you can live with all the problems people have been having.

The CT is my first Tesla that feels like they were conservative with the range estimates. My 2016 X, 2018 3 and even the 2024 Y all beat their published MPGe, but they all fell short on an all-highway range test compared to their published range. That's no real surprise since the rated range is based on a mix of city and highway. The CT feels like I can get rated range on a highway trip.
