Looks like us early adopters got stiffed again.

Inventory FS trucks now get lifetime supercharging. Sigh.

You had to have purchased (or I think more accurately ordered) after whatever the date of the offer was which I believe was 12/27.

Welcome to the club. The offer is only for Foundation Series (only for new orders placed since the email came out last week). You purchased non Foundation series. I did the same three weeks ago and got 3 months of free supercharging.

But it is how they treated early model s adopters. I can think of no good reason why early CT adopters shouldn’t have something beyond all the pains of being an early adopter. (even considering all of the extra little trinkets we got).

Under no circumstances do I think that this is something that can be demanded or is an entitlement. I just think it would be nice and it would be consistent with the way Tesla used to do business.
I was very much hoping they would give Lifetime Supercharging to folks who got their trucks early… as a thank you for buying early…
We have 2 other Teslas that we bought early and they both have Lifetime (a first gen X delivered with it and a first gen 3, given it after a couple weeks). In fact the first time we ever paid for supercharging was on a 2.5 hour road trip in the truck… I have to say it kinda stung to spend $30 to charge on the road each stop! (yeah I know… spoiled, entitled early-EV adopted with first world problems). Especially since this vehicle is the most any of our cars have been in the shop…. Since the X and 3 were bought at pretty high premiums, which helped get more Tesla EV’s on the road it really was a cool gesture by Tesla to reward everyone who bought early… I really am hoping they still might do that one the promotion ends in 2 days…

It’s totally doable…

Just email us and update our app.
They have done it before for the exact same reason.

This is my thinking as well. I didn’t have the bank roll for an S when they came out or the interest in a model 3 at launch. we were early adopters of the Y, but by then Tesla had already proven itself and I understand no extra incentives for that vehicle. We have all made a similar leap jumping on board with the CT but that doesn’t mean I don’t understand the value proposition as I know for sure some of the usual suspects are gonna come in here to say. Preemptively, they’re not wrong.

I just firmly believe as a gesture it would be worth its weight in gold and I do think it’s plausible. It would be barely an inconvenience for them.

And heck with all the guys here saying that they don’t drive their car anywhere or supercharge ever (eew! yuck!) it’ll hardly cost anything at all.

Are you sure? I just put it for charging and changed the limit to 100%. It takes 11 hours to charge at 48A.

absolutely, you must have an issue with wiring size, power supply. the truck adjusts for those issues like you have it appears. Sad for you. You should have a licensed electrician look into that.

lol! I’m not complaining. Everything was installed by a licensed electrician, and it’s perfect. This is the best setup one could have at home. I was only responding to someone who said it takes forever to charge at home to 100% at 48A. That’s not true.

11 hours seems to math out

[add: note charging ~88.4 efficiencies as well not considered
Other:
The Tesla CT order page and gas equiv details line shows this: "Cybertruck All-Wheel Drive consumption rating = 42.9 kWh/100mi".
Apparently, a wall to wheels so take out charging overhead (0.884 digging by TMC AlanSubie4Life).
129 kWh gross? Usable ~123kWh (95.5%).
(42.9 kWh / 100) * (340 mi) * 88.4% = 128.9 kWh

If the price of the truck were to go up, would any owners give more money to Tesla? No.
Huh? Didn’t this happen to all of us? I reserved it for $65K for the beast and it went up… I paid $120K. Still happy with it, but that’s just the case.

do I wish we had free supercharging? sure, but we all agreed to plunk down our dough for what was on offer at the time we bought it.

When gas goes down $0.08 per gallon the day after you fill up do you complain to the gas station attendant? or how about if a gallon of milk drops 20 cents and you’ve already consumed some? store manager? or when you buy tires and a month later there is a $150 gift card with a set of four that wasn’t available when you bought - complain to the CEO? I’m guessing you’ve never used Amazon, because prices change constantly and yes, you paid more than someone else on many, many purchases. I guess you can’t fly either since you’ll run into the same issue. or book hotels.

the auto business always turns on/off discounts and price adjustments. nothing new here. you can also wait until demo trucks become available at a slight discount. or factory repaired trucks. or used inventory.

it will always get cheaper if you wait long enough. also, if you wait too long you’re dead (we all are) and you would have spent your whole life chasing the best prices and never bought anything. your heirs will thank you though. so there’s that.
You make valid points but I don’t know if lumping services, perishables, consumables, non-consumable goods, etc. all together is really valid. I’ve definitely seen companies price match, extend discounts, give special incentives to those “grandfathered” in, etc. I would also argue that things don’t always get cheaper the longer you wait. Does gas continually go down? Milk? Is there no inflation in other goods? I think some of the arguments here are that people essentially backed Tesla as loyal early adopters and took on a larger risk only to find out later that last minute buyers have a sweeter deal (in some cases). I’ve never pre-ordered gas, milk, etc. With that said, we have no legal right to free supercharging but it’s not illogical to request this, especially if we agree to void our vouchers.

Discussion is about after purchase, if the price went up afterwards would anyone send more money to tesla?

Reservations were with knowledge that prices will go up, also we paid extra to get the FS editions.

My broader point is that we live in a world where prices are in a constant state of flux due to the proliferation of demand-based / real-time pricing algos that pop up just about everywhere nowadays.

I do think offering early FS buyers the option to trade unredeemed $2,500 Powershare vouchers for Unlimited Supercharging would be a simple and fair approach. Double dipping on the incentive or expecting a retroactive incentive which for some is nearly a year post-purchase is more dubious.

Heck I purchased the original iPhone and received a credit after the initial price cut. Was I entitled to it? No, but I did appreciate it and I do think it fostered brand loyalty - I can tell you how many tens of thousands of dollars I've spent professionally and personally on Apple gear since then.

The other option for Tesla here is to just cut prices on inventory vehicles as they do with the other vehicle lines. But that will erode resale values so all FS owners benefit indirectly by Tesla trying to maintain price integrity for FS vehicles through the end of the run.

I agree, as someone who ordered in 2020 then got my FS beast in September, this sucks.
