At least we have $5,000 from Federal, however None for Ontario who is looking to attract Tesla for a new Gigafactory!
the low price point required for an EV rebate means you get a hybrid or not a Tesla.

Yeah right! Like his genius Twitter purchase. That was an awesome deal. And yes his circumstance contributed to a massive decline in stock price. Stop with the genius stuff already. LOL.
you're forgetting that Musk is a programmer first and foremost. the decline in stock isn't limited to Tesla- its the economy silly..... and emotional investors that don't understand the company.

Down the track he thinks globalists would have posed a real threat to his business and impacted his mission.

He went on the front foot and attacked the big threat. And many can't or don't want to see it. - Genius

This is my opinion.
Also"genius" doesn't mean "omnipotent". Einstein got things wrong, but he was certainly a genius - just ask those who proved Entanglement exists and disproved his Spooky Action At A Distance idea.

This won’t age well. He’s cut 75% of his staff (costs) while increasing users, attention and revenue. What do you think this will do to Twitter’s bottom line, and Elon’s bank account?
That's awesome to be in the know of that information. Quite certain all those cost cutting doesn't come in the range of tens of billions of $$$$$$$ he over paid. His Twitter deal will go down as the most over paid acquisition in history of business. I think this will age like Manchego.

NEW RULE: Ignore anyone who tries to bring up the Twitter purchase in a thread that's not about Twitter. It's just trolls trying to make every discussion political and will get the thread closed.

Back on topic here. This chart is in a nutshell why Tesla lowered prices. They have about 4% share in the US and want to move up to 10% share in the next couple of years.

Also, a good illustration of why the Cybertruck needs a trim under $60k.

If you can't afford it, then you can't afford it, BUT a $50k EV has a much lower TCO than an equivalent ICE vehicle. It's expensive to be poor.

Once, my boss suggested he was paying me too much if I had done as I claimed and replaced all the bulbs in my house with LEDs. "Well then, you sure must make plenty of disposable income yourself to be able to afford all those high-wattage, short-lived incandescent money furnaces."

We didn't discuss finances anymore after that.

I'm having a hard time comprehending what that chart is trying to say. The way I'm reading it is that 90% of the new cars sold in 2021 were under $23,000. What cars are those?

90% of the people (market) can afford (able to address) a $20k vehicle.
5% of the people (market) can afford (able to address) a $60k vehicle.

If I'm interpreting the graph correctly.

Also really emphasizes the apparent philosophies behind the EV portions of the IRA dealing with MSRP and buyer incomes. (One might still disagree with those philosophies on the facts, but hard to dismiss it out of hand as willy-nilly baseless thinking.)

While true, lenders don’t see it this way and if your loan payment is too big a percentage of your income your interest rates go up significantly which takes away all that lovely TCO savings.

Also, a Model Y being more affordable long term than a RAV4 puts tremendous pressure on Toyota to get off their asses and put out an EV. Each notch they ratchet down is fewer ICE vehicles sold.

Yep. Model Y goes from being available to ~5% of the market to being available to 10% - 15%. Doubling or more their addressable market.

The $20k car comes later.

Also, that $80k+ Cybertruck so many people claimed would be the base truck? Less than 2% of the population could afford it.
