I used the spray on my truck after BAD staining from a tree that dropped its seeds over-night in the rain.... it took it all off fast but left a haze... I used Isopropyl alcohol to clean the residue off and it's MINT looking... takes some time but it cleans it as clean as you can get..
You have said something very important and true. The BK leaves the steel more opaque (like a fog). But you say that with alcohol the haze is removed and the original shine is left?

My Cybertruck was delivered with quite a bit of staining on a lot of the panels. It’s looked to be from rain. I tried a bunch of softer cleaners first to get off the stains. Windex, waterless wash, full soap wash, generic stainless polish, etc.

None of that worked. So I tried some bar keepers friend that many other suggested. I tried it on a small area, and it looked fine. I then tried a door with lots of staining. I let it sit for one minute and then rinsed it off. The first time I applied very lightly and it dulled the stains, but didn’t remove them. The second time I scrubbed just a little more and it completely removed all the stains and created a perfectly uniform panel.

However, The door is now lighter in color and the finish is a bit more dull / less shiny. I don’t love this effect, but it appears I’m going to have to live with it since I already started. I followed the directions, didn’t let it sit too long and didn’t scrub hard. To help others to do this well and decide if this is for them, I would love some advice or feedback from others if they saw this, or if I did something wrong.

Important Edit: after finishing the whole truck, I noticed that the front panel in the picture below still doesn’t match the panel in the rear. I am thinking bar keepers friend didn’t change the panel as much as I thought. When both panels were done the same way they still look different. So if my post scared you away, don’t worry too much. The truck looks amazing with all panels done and I do prefer it better now.

Did you watch and follow the video from out-of-spec-detailing? He said to use Windex after the Bar Keepers Friend. I got myself some of each and was going to try it out today but ran out of time. By the way, did you do it by hand and how long did it take for the whole truck?

I had great results with CitriSurf 77 Plus Stainless Steel Rust Remover with clear PPF. Applied HALO ceramic coating to protect the finish and easy cleaning.

That plastic coating is going to make it more difficult to keep looking nice as it starts to fail. I don't use any coatings on the bare metal and it's super easy to keep looking nice. The bare metal is harder and more scratch resistant than the plastic coating.

I did my whole truck two months ago with Barkeepers, then windex, and then the everbrite coating.

I found Sprayway is better than windex - I noticed with windex that it still leaves a bit of off coloring in some areas. Also, after the everbrite coating, I just wipe down the truck with Sprayway - don't even have to use water for the most part unless it's really dirty.

Everbrite coating took only a couple hours to apply. So far 2500 miles later, no major issues. I do have a couple spots where other people swung their door into the truck and scratched the coating off. But it's just a matter of reapplying little bit again.

I'm thinking to do a wrap now but contemplating to remove the Everbrite or just wrap over it.

Of course it changed the look. You’ve taken a layer off. I did the same thing.

BKF is an abrasive and will f up your truck. You should use a petroleum based product like WD40.

Absolutely not true. You can get the Oxalic/citrus acid only version that is 100% non abrasive.

https://barkeepersfriend.com/products/more-spray-foam/
True, and the non-abrasive version is the only one I would recommend. And I wouldn't follow Out of Spec Detailing's advice and follow it up with Windex, they have more trouble, more time and expense, maintaining their Cybertruck than anyone. And it requires frequent re-dos.

After BKF (the non-abrasive version), just wash it off well. There is no need to neutralize it if you remove it.

Citric acid will corrode the stainless steel.
That also is not true.

You do know BKF is made for stainless steel, right? You think if BKF corrodes stainless steel the manufacturer wouldn’t have a shit tonne of lawsuits?

I think you are confusing stainless steel with cast iron for which BKF says it should not be used.

Also the MFR clearly states that you shouldn’t leave it on stainless steel for long periods. You put it on, then wipe/clean it off.
