It's actually worse than that: The companies scrambling to catch up with Tesla will be massively disadvantaged if that comes to pass. Tesla has their factories, their product. The others don't have it refined yet.

This kills BEVs in the cradle.

it may slightly slow US Ev adoption, however the rest of the world will continue, leaving the US behind and therefore ultimately dooming US legacy auto to bankruptcy.
