Dual Motor VIN 7156 - A Returned Dud?

My brother in law recently configured a dual motor CT with the grey interior on May 24th and lives in Des Moines, Iowa with an estimated delivery of July-Sept. 4 days later he receives VIN 7156 with white interior. Wanted to see if anyone here had that VIN and returned or refused delivery so we could see what's up! Shot in the dark of course but wanted to check.

I doubt there’s a giant conspiracy at Tesla to dupe you into buying somebody’s left over shit.

Well that’s not what he ordered… I’m surprised they’d assign him a vin that has different options. I wouldn’t think too much about it. They’re shipping thousands of these things all over. Some people aren’t qualifying for financing / dropping out etc.

I live in the DSM area too and just picked up my AWD 2 weeks ago with VIN 100XX but I've been reading about VINs higher than mine being delivered before me and lower numbers in the 8000s or 9000s still being scheduled. Tesla logistics are a mystery somedays. Probably a scenario where personal circumstances changed so hoping to find a buyer by re-assigning a current VIN. If he wants grey trim he should be allowed to keep his original configuration.

Who knows, maybe it sat waiting on a part that just came in. Manufacturers will ship vehicles short a part or two if it's a short-term supply issue and the part can be readily fit at a service center just to get the vehicles in transit and out of the factory lot.

I got my Foundation invite just now.

If the question relates to my comment above I did neglect to mention Foundation AWD. Sorry for any confusion. I do not believe any non-Foundation Series configurations have been delivered.
