I think people trying to remove a side view mirror are asking for trouble. The resolution of a human eye is 576 megapixels. The resolution of a Tesla car camera is 1.2 megapixels. The eye is almost 500x better.
Yeah but the mirror only occupies 1/500th of my field-of-view, so it all works out

The eye is almost 500x better. If you ever study traffic engineering it’s all about reaction time. And better resolution equals better reaction time hands down without debate. My mirrors are staying even though I think the cute triangle shape actually takes away from the geometrical strength of the truck. I bet they were trying to reduce drag and be fancy and I get that.
The triangle ? might just grow on folks, and be the norm, even though Elon indicated they could be removable. Laws will differ from place to place, from what l know here in Oz.
Tesla will probably go with internal screens and cameras in the future to reduce drag.

The Cybertruck posing for a photo. I think the SS finish is spot on and ready for production.

If i remember correctly.. the law in texas is either 2 side view mirrors or a rear view in the cab..

Will i remove mine.. prolly not as i don't wanna have to argue that with a cop that doesn't KNKOW the law and assumes they are required... since i was prolly speeding anyway.. no need to give him an extra reason to pull me over!

It was heavily debated many times how the CT would be finished at the factory. There were opinions all over the place. Some said it would be brushed. Some said it would be cleaned but raw. Some said it would be polished and many argued that they would do the bare minimum to keep the cost down. Well, IMO from the latest sighting it looks like they have mastered a really nice polish, which actually should be the easiest to maintain if we know the grit level and process they used.

That's not how eyes work? ?‍♂
The majority of our vision is low resolution peripheral. Only 1% of our visual field is high resolution and that is the area we are looking at wether it’s a mirror or a screen to see your vehicle surroundings. That’s how vision works.

Human field-of-view is about 135º horizontal and 180º vertical. So you're saying that your "576 megapixels" is all in the center of the eye, at whatever you're looking at, and the rest is just your imagination?

That's not how math works. Or geometry. Or biology. Or logic.

Has there been any discussions about possibly chemical etching or dying stainless steel? I'll take any color other than raw SS. There are some products out there and just for fun I may start experimenting with some ss panels that I have in the garage.

It actually is a lot of imagination - not only is there far less resolution outward, our visual processing system fills in some of what we “see” in the periphery

Take a spin:

then there’s the blind spot in dead center of our vision from optical cortex exiting rear of eye … also filled in by our brains

Aerosal WD-40 here.
3M, SCOTCH-BRITE or any of the good brand scourers and you'll be 'Rockin' In The Free World' (Neil Young )
NASA was the first to use WD 40 ___as l understand, it was invented for use on Space Craft way back!
