If I catch the perp in the act, can I tackle him, hold him down, and call the police, or is this something that I will be sued for and the judge will accept the case?

I know for a fact that the police will do nothing for a vandalized vehicle unless I hand off the perp to them directly.

I've experienced a theft from my vehicle with a smashed window and was able to track the stolen property to a house (using Apple's FindMy for the stolen pair of AirPods Pro, among other things). I gave the address to the police, which did nothing. The same day I found the house owner's name, phone number, and email address, provided this info to the police detective assigned to the case, but the police did absolutely nothing to retrieve my property and punish the thieves.

The damage to the vehicle and the value of the lost property was about $2,000, and it was not serious enough for the cops to get off their lazy bums and actually arrest the perps. I still have the police report, which is totally useless. And, by the way, I waited for the cops to come write a report for 2 hours, and they never showed up. I had to flag down a cop several miles away from the hotel where my car was broken into and ask him to write me a report. He told me they didn't respond to thefts from vehicles, as these were considered petty crimes, and they didn't have enough officers to write reports for petty crimes. This was in Antioch, metro Nashville.

Basically, the cops couldn't care less if a car were broken into. They aren't going to do anything. The thieves and the vandals roam free with no risk of being arrested.

I'm probably 98% positive now, honestly don't even notice the thumbs downs. In the beginning, June for me, it was 95/5 favoring positive. Kids love it, 60+ year olds love it. There are some angst-riddled 20's and 30's who feign negativity - and then take a picture.

But the positives are wildly positive.

I had one pickup truck driver in a lot pause to ask me about driving range, I told him 350+ miles on a charge which costs me about $12, how about you? He just sulked and drove away.

The day I wrapped it in satin black, everything changed. People started giving me compliments, thumbs up, and even walking up to tell me how much they admired it.
I did not see that coming.

Have others noticed this phenomenon as well?!?
I can't say whether there is an improvement but I'd guess that true from a pure "its ugly perspective". Probably not the tertiary hate.
Good perspective though, thanks!

I can however say that any kind of wrapping or stickering of the cybertruck does make it look better. Breaking up the body lines I think is what really helps. Some of the wrap vendors on here should make some pin stripe kits that follow body lines and are easy to install.

You know what's funny, I came on today to unsubscribe from this site because I've been treated rudely here. I manage a couple of environmental non-profits and to let you know where my politics are, I was a state delegate for Bernie Sanders twice. I'm also a very early investor in Tesla and fought my progressive friends who hated Musk right from the start. My position was, the enemy of my enemy is my friend and the oil industry is my enemy. But now my CT is ready for configuration and the email notification sits forgotten in a folder. I still believe that CT is the best truck ever made, but I don't know if I can buy it now. The things Elon says and does disturb me so much, I'm afraid that everytime I get in my truck, I'll think of him. Even more troubling is that I love my friends and family and although they would be polite to me when I roll up in my militaristic looking cybertruck, I have no doubt it would put them in a bad mood and I most definitely do not want that.
Truthfully, the only reason I haven't canceled my order is that I still believe that if Tesla fails, we're totally screwed, because all of the other car company would immediately deprioritize there EVs, in fact, they already have. It's a moral conundrum for me. I guess we're all screwed anyway, because when you have a problem, step one in solving it is admitting you have a problem and clearly America, the world's largest consumer and polluter, can't even accomplish step one.

Now, I'm interested to see if this comment will generate hate towards me.

The problem is you came here looking for hate. We are living our lives and hate is being thrown at us. By a small minority (my experience has been about 25%).
You are letting all this hate live rent free in your head. Live your life, let others live their lives. Do your research and choose to believe what you believe. Don't shove that belief down others throats.
*shrug*

[EDIT]
If you can't buy the truck you want because of family and friends consider what that does to you.
[/EDIT]

Well, that didn't take long. 1. I most certainly did not come here to look for hate, I came to cancel my subscription because I encounter hate. It may be a minority, but I really don't need it, can't use it and don't want it. 2. My comment isn't shoving anything down anyone's throat. I find that comment to be offensive. I merely shared my perspective.

Nah, no hate here as I posted above my CT is named IDGAF, you are only accountable to you, you seem to know damn well that Tesla is America's last great hope for an EV future. Most of us long term owners have in the past put up all the green hate from the right that you can possibly imagine. Now that Elon has switched teams the haters are on the "other side" of the divide. FWIW & IMHO the hate from the right was largely uninformed as the MSM had collaborated with their advertisers to spin FUD at EVs. Now that things have changed the hate from the left is vitriol. Please stick around here as I'm confident the right doesn't hate you at all.
...that's exactly why I named my truck IDGAF

Maybe they are not your friends if what vehicle you drive puts them in a bad mood? Just an observation.

just one confrontation face to face. High school kid. Left a note on truck said I needed to sell that POS. When I caught him he turned red and ran off. I got upset and emptied my garbage into his rather trashed car. Waited for him to return and then asked him how it felt. He said it was just a joke. I waited a few,,, watched him drive off. Then felt bad as his ignorance probably did not justify that. Granted it was not a lot of stuff, maybe 4 or 5 paper towels but I HATE when people mess with my stuff.

Ok, LOL, now that was a kind and thoughtful response. I'm still not sure I can stay though. The trouble is, I do a lot of research for my Non-profits, and I've seen the devastation with my own eyes, the total, irreparable destruction of coral reefs is only one example. I'm just crumbling inside, I can't take it. Thank you for kind comment.

Ya, I figured that would be a response, but no, these are life long friends and family members, their love is unquestionable.
If you’re worried about CEO’s I suspect you’re using very few purchased products and services.
You're correct. And most of the stuff I have is hand-me-down, but still, I understand what you're saying, and I've said the same thing to my friends in the early days, before Elon bought Twitter, "the only difference between Elon and other CEOs is that the other CEOs know to keep their mouths shut." I'm not ignorant about their views, but, the things Elon says and does are impossible for me to ignore.

It might be where I live, but I've only had a couple of negative "real world" interactions, and they weren't that bad. Occasionally I'll have people ramble off some of the things they've seen on TikTok, but that's pretty easy to rebuff. The vast majority are positive, or people who are genuinely curious.

Kids really love it. I think Tesla has a whole generation locked in.
