That is a great argument for those who say “wait until you have to replace the battery”
When challenged, such pontificators will retort "I can get a used engine for $200 and swap it myself for free"

access to hitch, trailer wire harness pins, and frame recovery points

In a traditional truck these are just ‘naked,’ tucked under the bumper - but for the CT the aerodynamics (if not aesthetics) have it wrapped in removable, aero, trim

I went back to the videos and saw the indented part of the bumper covered up with a panel that is covering up the hitch receiver and wiring harness.

Personally, I'd rather just have the receiver and wiring harness exposed. I can't believe such a tiny area would have a meaningfull effect on aerodynamics. And when I want to hitch up a trailer, I just want to get it done and be on my way, not have to deal with figuring out how to get a panel taken off.

I suppose the first time I need to take off that panel to hitch up will probably be the last time it's ever installed on the truck.

a bicycle rack on a Model X reduces range by >20% at sustained hwy speeds

these little aero envelope things add up, especially at the areas of the vehicle just prior to creating wake/void behind the vehicle

and at the finalization of production design, can mean the difference between Tesla stating an EPA-rated 450mi range or a 500mi range

But after sale, you can rip off both bumpers and weld on an I-beam if you like (range be damned)

I can't believe you're equating a bicycle rack with a missing panel that probably measures 3 inches by 9 inches. I think that panel is more a matter of esthetics rather than function.

Given the existence of a dedicated Tesla CT accessories team we might even get a more off road oriented bumper that gets rid of the blister for an improved departure angle.

It's not just 3 inches by 9 inches, when compared to the concept truck they modified the entire shape of the bumper diffuser area.

I’m not “equating” them.

I’m saying a mere hitch-mounted bicycle rack with a bicycle can reduce Model X range by >20%, so then you would be surprised what can generate, e.g., 5% decreases in range due to drag

Perhaps you’re missing that that entire design of the CyberTruck is driven by optimizing aerodynamics, right down to the BAW being placed vertically on the windshield - all in an effort to achieve a maximum range efficiency in a BEV pickup.

And as RVAC already corrected, we’re here talking about all of this being used to in an aesthetically pleasing way handle the exiting stream of air from under the CT body:

the above is a series of three separate panels: one in middle (hitch receiver and pins), and one on either side (frame recovery point access)

It’s a big, saggy, diaper of a trim piece that also reduces exit angle significantly, so you can bet Tesla’s designers did not add it on in a whim

I think it's there to hide whatever is behind it. Nothing.

Probably unfinished beta and they dressed it up

If that's the case, my trim will come off and go in the garbage

I don't think there's enough rear steering angle to overwhelm the front steering control on direction. It will just go sideways down the road if the RWS is on full lock, but you can still steer it straight so you can pull over.
The ability to have 4 wheel steering and mostlikely electric drive by wire may mean that all four wheels can turn independently.

The most amazing potential would be for tank turn if each side of the trucks wheels could turn in opposite directions. Not sure how this would be done with only single motor in the front of the cyber truck, but wheel alignment would look like this:

This would
\ / eliminate a lot of scrubbing

Super excited. Alignment could be computer controlled, and steering adjusted to perfect while driving sensing tow in or out.
