Close but not exactly.
FS AWD & FS Beast do NOT share the same tires.
remember the current FS AWD tire is only rated to 112mph
in not sure what you’re talking about, and maybe there’s something in there, but I can’t see it through the various confusions.
There is not a Foundation-specific tire
There are two tires offered, that may come with a given Cybertruck as either standard or optional depending on the trim configuration:
- a Pirelli AS ELECT Scorpion
- a Goodyear AT Wrangler
(1) both the FS AWD and the FS Beast come on the Goodyear AT Wrangler
(2) at the moment, people ordering FS can’t select to change to the AS Pirelli even if they wanted to, because Tesla says it isn’t available yet
Then there’s a separate matter of what the AWD or Beast’s top speeds are. Those top speed ratings have nothing to do with being Foundation series. The normal retail versions will have the same top speeds.
• AWD: speed governed to 112mph (technically, 111.8 I believe)
• Beast: speed governed to 130mph
These are software/driveline speed limitations, not tire-imposed limitations
The Pirelli has an H speed rating (130):
The Goodyear also has an H speed rating (130mph):
They are both H speed rated because both tires need to be capable of being optioned on the Cyberbeast.
When optioned on the AWD, the tire’s speed rating will slightly over-coverage the AWD’s 112mph governed speed.
Here I’m not sure what you mean by “we have not seen this tire in real world yet.”Here is a link to the Beast tire: (H rated to 130mph) note we have not seen this tire in real world yet.
We’ve seen the Goodyear AT with an H speed rating a thousand times over the past … 2 years?
The Pirelli has been seen fewer times but plenty and for for more than a year. Though not until say six months ago a close enough shot to determine it was a Pirelli with an H speed rating.
I’ve above included only two of dozens of photos I have over months of each of these tires.
What you’re linking to is a complete confusion:
That is not the Tesla OEM Cybertruck tire
That is merely the Goodyear base tire upon which the Tesla-specific and custom made OEM tire is based.
The Tesla-specific Goodyear AT has not only the Tesla-only sidewall and tread designs (and even Tesla/CT branding), but also an extremely unique combination of an H speed rating together with a 123 load rating.
And finally:
huh?it also explains why we haven’t seen any top speed tests
Isn’t what “explains” why we haven’t seen top speed tests is that … Tesla has speed governed the two trims to 112mph and 130mph, respectively
I suppose someone might want to “test” whether Tesla is lying and they ultimately top out slower than the Tesla-stated top speed limit?
But it’s not exactly a burning question
again:
I’m not sure where all the uncertainty around wheel/tires come from
