Close but not exactly.

FS AWD & FS Beast do NOT share the same tires.

remember the current FS AWD tire is only rated to 112mph

in not sure what you’re talking about, and maybe there’s something in there, but I can’t see it through the various confusions.

There is not a Foundation-specific tire

There are two tires offered, that may come with a given Cybertruck as either standard or optional depending on the trim configuration:
  • a Pirelli AS ELECT Scorpion
  • a Goodyear AT Wrangler
There is nothing special about the Foundation offering in this respect, except that:

(1) both the FS AWD and the FS Beast come on the Goodyear AT Wrangler

(2) at the moment, people ordering FS can’t select to change to the AS Pirelli even if they wanted to, because Tesla says it isn’t available yet

Then there’s a separate matter of what the AWD or Beast’s top speeds are. Those top speed ratings have nothing to do with being Foundation series. The normal retail versions will have the same top speeds.

• AWD: speed governed to 112mph (technically, 111.8 I believe)
• Beast: speed governed to 130mph

These are software/driveline speed limitations, not tire-imposed limitations

The Pirelli has an H speed rating (130):

Tesla Cybertruck Small Aero Wheel Covers spotted & compared (to larger covers)! IMG_8165

The Goodyear also has an H speed rating (130mph):

Tesla Cybertruck Small Aero Wheel Covers spotted & compared (to larger covers)! IMG_8166

They are both H speed rated because both tires need to be capable of being optioned on the Cyberbeast.

When optioned on the AWD, the tire’s speed rating will slightly over-coverage the AWD’s 112mph governed speed.

Here is a link to the Beast tire: (H rated to 130mph) note we have not seen this tire in real world yet.
Here I’m not sure what you mean by “we have not seen this tire in real world yet.”

We’ve seen the Goodyear AT with an H speed rating a thousand times over the past … 2 years?

The Pirelli has been seen fewer times but plenty and for for more than a year. Though not until say six months ago a close enough shot to determine it was a Pirelli with an H speed rating.

I’ve above included only two of dozens of photos I have over months of each of these tires.

What you’re linking to is a complete confusion:

That is not the Tesla OEM Cybertruck tire

That is merely the Goodyear base tire upon which the Tesla-specific and custom made OEM tire is based.

The Tesla-specific Goodyear AT has not only the Tesla-only sidewall and tread designs (and even Tesla/CT branding), but also an extremely unique combination of an H speed rating together with a 123 load rating.

And finally:

it also explains why we haven’t seen any top speed tests
huh?

Isn’t what “explains” why we haven’t seen top speed tests is that … Tesla has speed governed the two trims to 112mph and 130mph, respectively

I suppose someone might want to “test” whether Tesla is lying and they ultimately top out slower than the Tesla-stated top speed limit?

But it’s not exactly a burning question

again:

I’m not sure where all the uncertainty around wheel/tires come from

Thanks for this.

This is news to me that the Wrangler AT has an H rating. Previously all the versions I had seen had an ‘S’ rating.

when I contacted tire rack a Cpl weeks ago they told me that the CyberBeast was due to be spec’d with the Wrangler RT tire and sent me the link I posted.

Speed tests: we have not seen any 130mph speed tests from any reviewers including the guys borrowing Phil’s beast.
- which is why I speculated that these beasts were delivered with S rated tires and electronically limited to 112mph.

I hope to see More beast deliveries this month

the confusion appears to be bred from people here and elsewhere posting links to the Goodyear Wrangler tire website and saying “this is the Cybertruck tire”

that is the base tire upon which the Tesla OEM tire is built, but the Tesla OEM tire is custom made for the Cybertruck

never before has Goodyear built a tire of that base Weangler construction that is both H speed rated and 123 load rated - no vehicle has existed to need to meet that market.

and Goodyear sure has never made a Wrangler with the sidewall tread pattern seen on the CT OEM tire.

Same all-around for the Pirelli ELECT Scorpion line - it’s a custom made tire in terms of size+speed+load rating, and the custom sidewall tread pattern.

For related reasons, people will not anytime soon or easily be finding aftermarket tires for the Cybertruck that meet both the speed and load rating in a 35” tire. If we ever see many aftermarket options, it won’t be until the Cybertruck is so ubiquitous as to cause other makers to build that tire config.

Until then, aftermarket, will at best have to choose to kneecap their payload rating in order to get an H-rated tire for the Beast - or conversely kneecap their top speed to get the full payload rating.

The AWD may have more options/compromises sooner, as it’s governed top speed may be more easily found aftermarket in a 35” tire - but the load rating a bit to watch for.

the Beast tire is actually the GOODYEAR WRANGLER TERRITORY RT

Personally I believe this is (one) of the reasons for the delay with the beast. They were still waiting for certifications on this tire.
it also explains why we haven’t seen any top speed tests

TireRack changed that page. Here's my previous snapshot of it. It showed the H rating. You posted in that thread too I think.

To me, the base wheel would look good with a center cap to only cover the lug nuts. Hopefully this will eventually be one of the Tesla accessories, similar to the cap offered on the M3 wheels when the aero cover is removed.

I wonder if this has to do with the shortage. I am picking up my Cybertruck on Friday and they already let me know they have a shortage of wheel covers, so they will do a remote service call sometime after delivery when they get them in.

What's the load rating (not speed) requirement for the AWD version?

Looking for snow tire but looks like there are no dedicated winter tires (michelin ice like) for trucks? I just see these "3 peak" n rates At tires...

I hate this crap that they do. Anything they can do to get you to take delivery and promise you fixes later. I'm still waiting on a new charge port door for my 21 model y, which they promised they would send out with mobile service as soon as they got one in stock.

There is a cybertruck in the Sarasota Tesla Store and the employee told me that the truck is no longer coming with wheel covers. He also said if you have a reservation already that it should be delivered this year. His rational is because if you order it now, delivery dates are end of 24. I am hoping that is true!!

The reality is that all sizes of the aero covers look cheap. Same with the 3/Y covers. Mine will be coming off and available for sale if interested. I have a feeling that when the CT/B start getting to 10k miles and need new tires, a lot of aero covers will come off because the larger ones need a bespoke tire that I have to assume will be more expensive.

If the 20s without the aero's look cheap, tsportline.com order will fix that.

Well that employee knows less about the Cybertruck than anyone on this forum. Delivery starts in 2024, that doesn't mean your delivery is in 2024. With all my conversations with Tesla Employees, it is amazing how little they know. The sales people at my local Tesla center didn't even know about the California rebates and the $3000 Valley Air pollution rebate.
