I agree in a way: silverado has the two main things I wanted in the CT: longer range and midgate. However, there is one very large strike against it: It weights 8577 lbs vs the CT 6603lb thats ~2000 pounds more. I don't want an 8500lb vehicle.

The more ideal car for me is if they ever make it would be a cyberSUV/minivan that has more covered rear space when you remove or fold the rear seats. Waiting for some modest improvements in 4680 chemistry might have to be enough for me range wise.
exactly and why i was never a trad, full size PU buyer
even the small PU was not for me for it missed full size features, like a usable bed
for me, the CT matches what I want, nimble, fast, easy to steer, bed, space, TESLA!!

In the video, was there any mention of Silverado OTA updates? We know how it works with Tesla. A 2018 M3 can have all the features of a 2023 M3. The OTA updates are important. The Cybertruck will receive dozens of updates adding more and more features as time goes on.
The Silverado looks good though. If manufacturers didn't limit features the cost would probably exceed $200K.

Did you reply to the wrong guy? I have no interest in the Chevy EV lol. I like it but I already have a nice diesel work truck. I want the CT because I love it lol.

Tesla and Rivian have the best OTAs and are put out regularly. Tesla has many limitations of OTA some based on hardware of old/new cars and some based on them not wanting to support them. For example, on my 2017 TMX it uses a MCU2 that controls the center display and the drivers display as a 'secondary' monitor (MCU1 did not). Tesla has NOT added turn signal displays to my car despite people showing that it could work and has been demo'd to do so years ago (GreenTheOnly).

OTAs were a *major* challenges for OEMs as Jim Farely explained in an interview because of literally 100s of suppliers and getting the APIs set up is a significant amount of time and money.

For OEMs doing vehicles more from scratch this is going to work well (Ford T3 and Chevy truck EVs {hummer was test bed; truck Nov 2021; SUV Jan 2023.}) since it will be defined from the very start. This is all very obviously in hindsight and OTAs are commonly understood and expected by customer bases now (news info, phones, etc)

They will be losing $$ if production rate is only 1000/ year.
At 200 kWh battery, they'd be losing money even at the 10K/year mark. They would need to make over 100K to make any reasonable profits.

The inefficiency is what makes me not want to like a Silverado EV. It's a great first attempt but boy, is it inefficient (and waste of batteries).

Chevy is a huge company, do you want to support them so much that you won't by their product if it is not profitable to them?
Who cares if the truck looses money for Chevy, lots of their products do.

If it is a moral issue buy a 250mile range CT that Tesla will make a profit from.
If not and range is important a 400 mile Chevy makes way more sense.

If you want a work truck buy an ugly chevy with a ton of range and fast charging.

If you want a sexy sports suv buy a cybertruck with steer by wire and great audio.

There is no "250 mile range" CT. The AWD is rated at 320 miles.
Well there is no 400mile chevy either, it is 410/440 but realistically plan on 400, just like with the AWD plan on 250 unless you are staying in town the whole time.

The EPA range of Cybertruck is 320. Your mileage may vary.

The EPA range of Silverado is purportedly 400+. Your mileage may vary.

Silverado is purportedly 440. The EPA has not published figures, and the vehicle has not entered production. (i.e., "terms and conditions subject to change without notice")

I'm not saying Chevy is lying, I'm saying that 440 is an "engineering estimate" at this point.

Video above -- It is a good indication that they got over that 440 going ~65+ on a highway (EPA is a blend of city/highway so always better than mainly highway).

Heck I showed in other post that on a couple of my roadtrips I traveled less than that per day on average!

Very fair.
But EPA numbers will likely never be out for it, just like the CT. Due to the weight is not required.

Several youtube guys have driven the Chevy and gotten well over 440 so would say it is safe to say it has about 30% more range than the CT regardless of conditions. The head to head showdowns reflect that
