Maybe I am just uneducated, but usually on a road trip by the time I arrive the last thing I am looking to do is wash my vehicle. Never heard of wiping it down so glad I didn't miss that one.
Almost nobody does it, but it would be best practice to clean off contaminants from paint sooner than later. That's all I'm saying.

I gotcha, if I have driven through construction or road painting I have, but never considered a few bugs "contaminates" then again I have never owned a $120,000 vehicle so I may need to adjust my habits.

I think asking people to wash/wipe down a vehicle, especially after a long road trip day is a lot. That said if you have 40-90mins at supercharging stops you can likely do it then, I wonder if Tesla will add a hose or cleaning station so you can clean the truck while you charge if bugs etc are going to damage it?
This is no different from any other vehicle I have owned. This is not something new to the CT. I live in Houston and day trip a lot. It is very normal for me to wipe down the front bumper from bugs and grime. Also I like to inspect my cars/trucks after use by wiping them down. I do not do this daily but I do wipe off bugs when I see them.

DeLorean owners don’t fret about maintaining the stainless. Here’s some consolidated advice on the subject from the DeLorean Club of Florida.

Rail dust and other contaminants:

Don’t Use Windex and other advice:

I will go out on a limb and say that the streaks he’s seeing is related to the constant use of Windex. Refer to the last section for details.
As DeLorean owners have been doing this for (OMG) more than 40 years, I'd say they already know... Has it been that long?

I guess, just with all the "tough truck" stuff I did not expect to need to be constantly buffing and wiping off bird poop.

I'm with M, this looks like FUD to me...has no one noticed that there is nothing in these photos to indicate this is a cybertruck?
Why would someone lie about it when there are other CTs with the exact same issue?

No vehicle manufacturer promises nothing will stick to it.

I've never heard of anybody "wiping down a vehicle" after driving it. That's probably the worst thing...
No, you've just decided that it's the worst thing without thinking that 'wipe' would be relevant to what the heck is on it.

Washing off playa dust or pollen? Unnecessary. Just dust it off.
Washing off rain? Unnecessary. Just wipe it.

Some things will require water as a solvent, other things will need more, and at least with stainless, you're not worried about scrubbing off the top layer with just a cloth or wet rag.

Salt spray from a loop around the peninsula? Water. Lots of it.

Geez. What is wrong with you guys?

I too thought this was FUD, hence my harsh reaction. While not actually rust, environmental contaminants are affecting what we’re seeing on other CTs too. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about yet, but we’re learning about how to care for and what to expect from the CT stainless.

I found this amusing

Def a meme, kidna funny, but pretty sure those are not stainless as people sometimes stick magnetic bumper stickers to them when taking pictures?

I think it would be interesting to see if these rust spots are happening to trucks that get wrapped. Maybe someone who gets a clear wrap could comment?
