I hate being that guy but I'm hardwired to point out it is "moot" point, not mute point.
Agree with you. Can’t be a “mute” point if he was “just saying”.

Sort of settles the exo debate.
I’d watch that video. What it takes to replace the skin. How it looks with the new skin. Measuring the new stats on range etc. And then the inevitable off-road video that may or may not turn out how one might think.

you thinkin’ plywood?
I was actually thinking carbon fiber. But for extreme maybe Mylar balloon sheets. Or tin foil for those who see the great conspiracies. But wood would be cool.

For all those who don’t see the SS skin as part of the “skeleton”, one could replace all the factory SS with a much thinner skin to save weight and add range.
2 mm would be very strong yet 30% lighter. IDK 250 lbs for bragging rights . Just guessing.

An extra 500 - 800 lbs makes a difference off roading. Ask the Hummer driver that totalled their rig going over a bump.

If the price is $75,000 for the first year I expect less than 25% of orders to complete.

Very possibly they will just start asking for non refundable deposits in large order blocks and just skipping the ones that aren't willing to put a few thousand dollars down on a truck they will get in 6-12 months.
Unfortunately this is what I see happening. TSLA is in for a ride. Note Elon backed production down for 250 to 200 k. I think that is foretelling.

He said bulletproof glass has to be too thick to be rolled down. So you could add bulletproof glass, but it would suck at the drive through.
Sometimes Elon says things that, if anyone else said them, you would assume they were being facetious. If you think about it, he was describing an absurd scenario and we are supposed to get it.

i vote Mylar balloon sheets

that way you could really get some range after you fill the CT with the helium

and then it will fit in the garage (but only up at the apex of the roof where you can't reach it without a ladder)
