It is physically limited not software
It’s also physically limited by the tires they don’t make 35 inch tires with a higher speed rating

S Up to 112 mph
T Up to 118 mph

They say a chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link ?

As been said incorrectly

the software limit is there to keep these motors from spinning into oblivion

but don’t tell too many people, because I do still want one of y’all to learn this the hard way on video for us to watch
Don’t similar motors push the model S plaid close to 200 miles an hour?

Yet 35 inch tires do not exist beyond a T speed rating

S Up to 112 mph
T Up to 118 mph

Not sure what mass to energy conversion has to do with maximum velocity, unless you are planning on making a large hadron collider. ;)
JB,

Give us the G load that the tread experiences at 112 and 130mph. I have to run and don't have the mental capability to calculate that while driving an ICE car!

The Beast Goodyears are rated for 130

regardless, think of the motors as being tuned for certain use cases

the Model S are tuned for what it does

the CyberTruck is tuned for what it does

they can’t be tuned to be all of both at once

@Broski , FYI the first few post explained this. Gear ratio to move that 'beast'.
Its got a 15x torque multiplier and the plaid has about 10x i forgot the exact figure which means ~ 33% reduction in redline.

that means that even if there were tires that could run > 130 underneath a 9500lb truck, 200mph x .67, 134 mph is all you could ask the motors for.

yes, I know they aren’t the exact same motors but they are still motors and even a carbon fiber winding has limits.

Ok, I rushed through. So no promises, BUT...

I think at 112 the tread is subject to 168 Gs and at 130mph the tread is subject to 195 Gs.

My '17 Raptor and my '21 TRX seemed to be limited just south of 120. I've not push the CB past there but 130 estimate doesn't feel far off. I'm in it for the acceleration though, so I personally can live with the max speed limitation. Low 100s works for most days' daily commute. ;)

I think I’ve taken this truck to 100 mph MAYBE twice - and to be honest I didn’t even mean to.

Not really a thing I care about. People ask me all the time ā€˜how fast can that thing go’ and I always think that’s a silly question for a pickup
