Related post I think. Wonder how an accessory like this will screw up the areo and mileage.
Meaning see how the air flows over the back without it.

Related to the aero, I thought this video was quite interesting and likely has been discussed but seemed to go along with your comments.

The below is about how far the 'sails' are angled in (and I thought was a surprising nugget) but the whole video is good on the front and rear air pressures.

This looks bad, I am sure there are rubber seals but that is a good spot for hi velocity wind to penetrate, ram air has a lot of force
The panel gap on that side isn't great, though as others have pointed out the frunk doesn't seem to be fully closed in some shots anyway.

However in *this particular shot* (and one or two others), most of what you are seeing is the flat inner edge of the wheel arch flare behind it. I think. I hope. lol

It's like they are apologizing for your sail pillars being ax'd.
this pic is my best hope yet to have some sort of "sail pillar" storage... looks like they moved it inside the vault.... I'll take it! Also note the new rear camera "hoody." lol

Boring. We all knew aftermarkets racks would be made. I want bonafide specs on the truck itself, pricing, roll out plans, etc.

Having said that, I do like that we got to see something without some dumb announcement that something would be mentioned months in advance and then we speculate on it for those months. We just need more of this, more often, more I say!
I would love for Tesla to publish 3rd party mounting dimensions so vendors can get to work, and be ready when the CT hatches.

that trim 'lip' just inside the "table top" of the sail pillar is an interesting new giblet - compare to the investor day proto:

EDIT TO ADD: Never mind that 'lip' is an illusion created by the lighting/angles.

notice also in the photo above the cracked/damage sail pillar table trim (better viewed/confirmed in the video)

Good idea. Personally I'd like to see mounting points for something like traditional Yakima bars for carrying canoes, kayaks, ladders etc. Hopefully a few different points and not the tiny separation mandated for current Teslas. We paddlers carry around canoes and/or kayaks most of the year and the small bar separation is a big problem. That's my only real gripe about my current Model Y.

Me: I probably don’t care much about accessories.

Tesla drags out the first accessories publicly…

Me: MUST HAVE.

This is almost like xactly the sort of thing I’d want.

There is nothing in that image that suggests that the sail pillar has storage.

Doesn’t anyone carry a tape measure? Length and width are killing me!!!
God you’re right. There is no obvious place to store a tape measure.

I’m cancelling my reservation! Total miss by the CT team!

Oh wait I think I misread your quote.

Never mind

Definitely a one off for the event.

But plasma cutter/water jet cut panels, some tubes for re-inforcement and cross bracing, welding, and powder coating or bedliner... Not sure why it needs to look expensive to get the job done.

The holes (probably to help lighten it up) also gives a wide variety of attachment points.

But the braces into the bed? Complete no go, which is probably why this is just a one off for the event.
If no one mentioned, they are square tubes to secure the flag poles.

It cannot be on the inside. We’ve seen structural castings which are more or less even with the bed.
