What a mess. I think this production ramp is going to end up being slower than we anticipate. This will no doubt get sorted out but for it to take 2 months? Which means all the hundreds or a few thousands of trucks that get made between now and then will have the same issue? Yikes.
I just picked mine up yesterday and it didn't come with hubcaps. I'm not worried, I'll get them eventually.

Until Tesla reaches out to me officially I’m not removing my aero caps. If tires are damaged by the time they let me know of a potential recall, then they can buy me new ones.

UPDATED 2/1/24 WITH EXPLANATION / REASON FOR RECALL:

cybertruck aero wheel cover recall issue .jpg

Original post:

Well - another issue just popped up. I was delivered my CT on the 24th without covers. No explanation other than they would be sending a tech to install the caps on the 1st.

Tomorrow is the 1st and I just received another message that they won’t be delivering becuase they are investigating all the covers and they won’t be delivering the caps until March.

this sounds a bit like nightmare you can’t make up. I get they are only the finish wheel hubs, but seems insane.

Anyone else having this issue?
this should have been caught at acceptance checks for prototype prior to approving the final design......but they probably did not consider it, or a hurry to get things done attitude prevailed and it was one of those things the could remedy after production release.....I dont know about you, but I would be pissed if I was asked to take a vehicle with missing parts/bad parts that have to be left off and later installed

@ConcreteTilt Thanks for the reporting and information. Ignore the haters ;)

I stopped by Dublin the other day and they still have a backlog of trucks waiting to be delivered. This information makes sense. Otherwise I have no idea why they have been holding on to trucks for weeks.
I just got mine from Dublin yesterday without wheel covers.

Unless you get a flat from it I don't see them replacing the tires for you.

Watching the video, has anyone commented on the fact it looks like the rim has chips / damage at the top of each spoke? Is that from the aero covers? I'm kind of shocked he didn't mention that at all, or at least show if it's dirty vs chipped.

I’m pretty sure I could make up a far, far worse nightmare than this. Also, I’d label this situation “mildly annoying” as opposed to “insane”.
